  1. Yeah just running through the models, not overly hot (upper 70s to low 80s most spots) but dews around 70F with daily shower/storm chances. Could be quite wet but each day is hit or miss variety. Swampy.
  2. Yeah we were stuck in the N flow reach around with 925mb temps in the 8-10C (45-50F) range this afternoon… along with thick stratus from the wrap around moisture. Drilling the chill into the northern mtns/hills. Looked like it was better S/SE of the mountains this afternoon.
  3. Today seemed like the coldest one of them all to be honest.
  4. You know I think you guys are right for sure… watching video of lightning hitting wood, it just explodes like that deck railing. There had to be an arm of electricity hitting that.
  5. Yeah agreed. I questioned my sister while they were investigating… no burn marks or anything on the deck. Would a step show burnt wood? It was very odd to me. Like tree gets hit by lightning, deck blows apart too. I was asking if the tree hit the deck, nope. Just bizarre damage pattern. She said they thought their house was hit as it shook the whole house. Asked about windows and they said no broken windows, which would go first I’d assume.
  6. This is wild to me. I did not know thunder concussive blasts could cause damage like this but the internet says it can: "The shock wave and thunder (at very close range to the lightning bolt) can cause property damage. Windows have been shattered by the concussion of thunder, and nail-supported drywall has popped away from wood studs in houses." My sister and brother-in-law's next door neighbor on Long Island had a tree take a direct hit by lightning yesterday... the tree was hit and blew up with bark scattered into neighbors yards... but the concussive blast destroyed their deck. I had no idea that was a thing. They can't think of anything else that caused the deck to just blow apart.
  7. 57/52. Just rolls on, enjoying nice 50s in June.
  8. If one keeps saying torch from April onward, eventually it will be correct. One of these times he’s going to hit on it, ha. Maybe this is the time. This month has sucked, a lot of potential outdoor time spent wet or not being able to be out. Don’t care about temps but a couple dry weeks would be nice. Mtn Bike and hiking trails all mud now after being awesome dry for so long.
  9. If you’re concerned about the vegetation right now… it’s enjoying your rainfall. 0.45” today, 0.82” past week, 1.57” in past 17 days there? It’s probably a bit below normal given a 1”/week desire… but with these cooler temps (cloudy days too), that water goes a long way. No need for a mulch flushing deluge.
  10. You always make me look because I don’t trust that you’ve actually looked when you say things like “everything has” a weather event … Let’s take Friday… GFS yes, GGEM no, Euro middle ground, EPS no. GFS has it. GGEM doesn’t. Euro is middle. EPS meh.
  11. Looking a bit more organized as a synoptic shield.
  12. Over an inch but not too much. A little splash over in the Stratus. Just an all-day synoptic rain.
  13. Max 59.5F so far, so did hit 60F. 0.78” so far today after yesterday ended around 0.40”.
  14. Yeah I don’t care about the day of week, lol. It’s all the same to me. We started Summer Operations (Gondola rides, that stuff) today so I work all weekend. I’m just b*tching right now about how we can’t have May year round… or those 90/32 with 14% RH days with sun until 8:30pm. We’ve burned two weeks of great long solar day light in a ULL showery bath.
  15. It’s not the aggregates though, it’s like the most brutal way to get to normal there the past two weeks lol. Low maxes, high mins, showery but not excessive. Just cloudy with daily showers. MPV highest temp of 81F since the 2nd with only 3 dry days of 17 this month. I get cranky when stuck inside for rain this time of year … when you can start a hike at 7pm and end at 9pm and it’s still light. May was a 3-week San Diego dream, wish we could do that all warm season.
  16. Ha, it’s more the vibe after May’s glorious month. First two days of 90s helped in June. Looking at it for the last 15 days though… In the last 15 days, we have hit or exceeded 80F exactly once at MVL. 9 of 15 days had maximum temps of 72F or lower. 5 days (today may be 6) of 65F or lower maxes. 14 of the last 16 days with at least a trace or more of precipitation locally at MVL. 10 of last 11 days with measurable rainfall. Mins have been mild though helping departures… but it’s been showery, and the maxes have been quite subdue. Its true the aggregate may be about normal, but it’s felt shitty. Need a week of sunny 82F.
  17. About 0.30” so far today. Not a drencher but decent daily soaks lately.
  18. Just got absolutely crushed hiking with the dog. Hail, some very close cracks of Thunder, and torrential rain. Even with rain gear I’m soaked straight through to the balls. Might as well have gone swimming with all my clothes on. Was on Spruce Peak, one NE of Mansfield. Hit the jackpot with no shelter. Pea to dime sized hail and raindrops the size and mass of pinecones it felt like.
  19. I can get on-board with that. Sometimes it sounds like you can’t do anything outside in summer unless it’s 6 weeks of 90/70, though that may be more Kev .
  20. Kids don’t like being outside in comfy weather? <duck and run>
  21. Nice rainbow after a couple passing thunderstorms this evening.
  22. lol they are like pancake style hail stones. Large and flat. There are no other ball-shaped objects they could’ve used to get the point across?
  23. Although this looks pretty muggy from yesterday.
