Not to interrupt the NAM debate, but long range HRRR is pretty fookin’ sweet. Long range HRRR yadda yadda caveat...but if people were looking for something positive, there it is.

Long range 12z HRRR has snow breaking out in DC by 5a, with heavy snow bands across NOVA/DC at 13z. Mix line is EZF/south.

Considering this was rain a few days ago, I’ll take my sleet storm and be happy. Too much doom and gloom up in here. No wonder why tracking storms just isn’t fun anymore.

I’m thinking 1-3” of snow, 1-2” of sleet, and less than 0.1” of ice here. Better than plain rain.

Pivotal has the Para out to Hour 42 (18z Thursday). DC looks to stay all snow through then. About 0.7” QPF has fallen. Waiting for the rest of the run but seems like it will have the two wave idea too.

3k has a better thump for DC than 18z before the flip to sleet.

Another shift colder from 18z as the same time had it to Clarksburg in Northern MoCo. Continuing the trend.

Yep, even gets DC back to sleet from freezing rain at the end of the run. Would be a fun event.

NW folks...it’s okay. We can be ok with less QPF because we will score with orographic lift, banding, and better ratios. Oh and the top of the hill adds another 3” in every storm. Did I say we’d be okay? I meant me.

I’m good with 1-2” of snow followed by a sleet bomb. Those can be fun.
