  1. HRRR says flip to snow there near 5p today.
  2. Woody Gap. Brass town will close the entrance road which means hike to the top it thats what your after. Woody typically does well in these situations. Or hwy 136 near Big Canoe. Also goes over 3k up
  3. We love the six pence pub there. For snow excursion go to beech mtn. Best spot up there in my opinion.
  4. I'm living this one out in Dahlonega GA at the southern end of the Apps. Enjoy it NC people. Couldn't convince the whole family to do Christmas up there.
  5. Got a nice surprise of 1/4" inch fresh snow overnight. LOL. Just enough to coat everything. Let there be another dusting tonight. BTW...brand new 12z GFS basically doubled the amounts for the highcountry. The upper level energy hasn't made it to shore yet but it will be over US land tomorrow morning so I would expect the models to start to align with it being sampled in our data network. Wouldn't surprise me to see a tick back up in the amount across all the models.
  6. What I thought was also weird was the real lack of strong wind with the flow snow. Normally at my location the snow doesn't just fall and lay but blows around everywhere. I can get 5 inches and have a dusting in areas due to wind blowing it all away.
  7. Still plenty of snow around this Saturday morning.
  8. And yet snowflakes continue to fly here on Beech. Lol
  9. Any yet the flakes keep flying. About 2 inches here on Beech.
  10. Yeah it's looking pretty decent. 850 temps crashing all day with 850 moisture. Maybe squeeze out 1-2 more inches
  11. Nice flow snow going on. A little over an inch so far. If I can eek out 2 I'll be stoked.
  12. Just dumping massive flakes here. Lol. Too bad it won't last long.
  13. Yep...finally first winter precip of the day.
  14. CAD hates my location on Beech. Lol. 35 with a DP of 35.
  15. What I've noticed since we've had our place here for the past 4 winters in that Beech is on the west fringe of the CAD zone. When CAD is building it seems to have no problem getting to my location but once it starts to erode I warm up very quickly while Blowing Rock just to my west stays much colder. So I'm hoping for an overperforming system for my area since the high pressure feeding the CAD is pretty much anchored and not just sliding out to sea.
  16. Getting nutting temp fluctuations here at elevation. Was at 30 around 7p and then climbed to 34 by 950p and now have dropped to 28.0. Lost 6 degrees in the last 30 minutes.
  17. Wedge is on the move now. Getting gusts into the mid 20s now and my DP has dropped to 11 here at 4650 on Beech Mtn
  18. Oh also when CAD is decent my winds gust to 30+ consistently as I'm wide open to the east on the side of south facing Beech. Right now gusts are less than 10mph so CAD really hasn't got cranking yet.
  19. 30.6 with a DP of 19 here at 4650 on Beech. At my location as long as CAD is still strong I do OK but once CAD starts to die it's over for me. Tomorrow should be interesting to say the least.
  20. Best snow of the day happening right now here on Beech. Everything has a nice coating. Maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch.
  21. 36 here at 4650 on Beech and precip is changing to sleet. Snow shouldn't be far behind
