We ended July here in East Nantmeal with our warmest July since 2020....but only 1 degree above normal. Rainfall wise we were about 0.5" below normal but we are still running 2.5" above normal for the year to date. A hot and humid start to August with rain chances increasing as we get to the weekend. Chester County wide records for today: High 104 degrees at Phoenixville (1933) / Low 47 degrees at Coatesville way back in 1895 / Rain 3.26" at West Chester in 2004.

Sorry Tim I am using the averages across all 28 NWS county stations since 1894 to smooth out any equipment issues etc. No bias for any one individual station.

Here in Chester County PA 9 of our top 20 warmest summers occurred in the 1930's and 1940's during our warmest cyclical warming phase. During our current cyclical warming phase - 6 of the top 20 have occurred since 2000.

We will have to go to the actual statistics for Chesco back to 1894 to assess...but I would be stunned if this is a hottest summer!

Rain chances should ramp up later today especially to the west and southwest of Chester County. Tonight looks to have the best chance of some heavy rain in spots. Sun returns to end out the week before the next chance of showers Friday into Sunday. Chester County Records for today: High 99 degrees at Kennett Square (1917) / Low 48 degrees at Phoenixville (1956) / Rain 4.06" at Phoenixville (1971)

Thanks Tip! Always enjoy your thoughts! Regarding the "cherry picker" comment - the reality is I use and show all of the available the actual raw NWS cooperative, automated and MADIS stations available for the County. I will usually ad in the NCEI adjusted data so we can see the difference in trend lines comparing the actual and the altered data for analysis. I of course cannot change the actual raw data.....those required NCEI adjustments will as they are today be handled later. As long as I continue to include the raw data without any omissions it will continue to be the furthest thing from "cherry picking" of data. With all do politeness.

The last 4 days have featured slightly below normal temps that should change as we head through the week. A bit unsettled weather wise this week but most days should see at least some sun. The best chances of rain look to be later tomorrow and Tuesday night...however we could see some showers at almost anytime between today and Wednesday. High temps not too far from normal to start the week - but some 90's possible by Thursday and Friday especially for lower spots in the county. Chester County records for today: High 101 degrees at Coatesville (1901) / Low 47 degrees also at Coatesville (1956) / Rain 3.97" at West Chester (1969)

As we have just passed Christmas in July....and for the many of you on Team Snow - why not list out all of the greatest annual snow seasons (October-April) on record across the Chester County NWS cooperative and trained spotter observation sites.
