Our well below normal temperatures that have started the New Year look likely to continue for the near future. Today will be our 6th straight day with temperatures staying below freezing. We may briefly get a couple of degrees above freezing (but still well below normal) by Saturday through Monday before we turn even colder by Monday night. We have a good chance at some light snow to freshen up the snowpack Friday night till Saturday morning, but most areas will receive less than an inch of the white stuff.
We are off to our coldest start to a year since 2018. That year was the coldest start with records back to 1893 for Chester County. Our stretch of below normal temperatures looks like it will continue for almost 10 more days before we see temperatures rise to normal or above by the weekend after this one. A couple flurries have been flying this AM but mostly sunny days but cold are on tap for the rest of the week. We may rise to near freezing by Friday and into the weekend. Our next minor snow event looks to arrive by Saturday morning with no more than a couple inches in most spots.

I think folks forget where we live....big storms are somewhat rare - except for the 1st 16 years of this century. I am convinced those snowy seasons made for many unrealistic expectations. That said if we get a general 2" to 4" event this weekend many will be near to above normal snowfall for the season....
We ended up with 2.8" of snow yesterday in East Nantmeal for the season we now stand at 6.1" which is 84% of normal snow to date. Windy today with some areas of blowing snow today (like on my road in Chesco). Dry through Friday with temperatures slowly moderating to within a couple of degrees of freezing. Snow chances increase on Friday night into Saturday, but this looks like no more than a moderate event despite what some are saying.

That last band gave us 0.8" of snow in 30 minutes between 10am and 1030am - now up to 2.3" for the day. Still snowing steadily....but it appears the end is near.
