  1. East Nantmeal Twp up to 2.70" of rain and pouring. Here in Sea Isle City NJ my weather station is back up with winds gusting as high as 45mph - saw a gust on the station at the Ocean Drive bar hit 55mph...just heard on scanner and pole is down back near the bay and into a house...no injuries
  2. 1.36" so far in East Nantmeal....heaviest rain so far has remained to my east...0.56" in last hour. The numbers I will report today are from the Vantage Pro which normally under reports rain. I will update tomorrow when I am back in Chesco and check the manual gauge. I am riding this out down in Sea Isle....winds are howling....unfortunately my vantage vue is having battery problems so hoping we get enough light to get it back on line to measure some of these gusts!
  3. Suspect today could be our last chance this year of a 90+ day here in Western Chesco. Even if we fail to touch 90 again....the 5 such days already recorded this year are the most since the seven (7) 90+ days we recorded in 2012. For more good news for those sick of this heat....our last average day with a high in the 80's is August 17th - with our average high of only 77.7 by the end of this month! On a wet note the WXSIM prints out 4.49" of rain from the tropical storm this week....we shall see! We could use some rain as while we are still above normal we have not seen any rain in the last 8 days.
  4. My ambient weather station split today was a bit cooler than my Davis Vantage Pro at 85.8/68.7 vs. the Vantage Pro at 85.9/69.5
  5. July in Western Chester County PA ends as the 14th warmest July and our warmest since the same 77.0 average temperature in July 2011. Also with 5 days that at least on a rounded basis exceeded 90 degrees this month marks the most 90+ days in the county since the 7 such days also back in July 2011. Of interest 9 of the top 10 hottest July's in the Western Chesco data set occurred prior to 1955 with only the hottest July on record 1990 cracking the top 10 all-time hot July's in the last 65 years. Below are the top 10 July's on record for Chester County PA 1999 - 80.0 / 1901 - 79.2 / 1955 - 78.9 / 1921 - 78.8 / 1944 - 78.7 / 1900 - 78.3 / 1943 - 77.8 / 1898 - 77.3 / 1931 - 77.3 / 1935 - 77.3
  6. Missed on the rain to the north last night...
  7. Most of the normal hot spots over 90 again today with the exception of the non-heat island spots including KMPO/ Andover / Belmar / KMQS /KPTW and of course the 2 stations in East Nantmeal all failing to reach the 90 degree mark today
  8. Most locales recorded yet another 90+ day with the exception of Lehighton, KMPO, Andover, Sussex, KPTW (Pottstown) and of course East Nantmeal!!. KMQS did record a "cheap" rounded up 90. Down in Sea Isle City a 2nd straight day of strong west winds killing the sea breeze leading to a high temp in SIC of 92.0 and the highest heat index we have seen all year on the Jersey Shore of 103.7
  9. Where 90's come to die in the philly burbs of Western Chester County....again no luck with the 90s
  10. By decade below are the top 10 warmest July's since 1900 in Western Chester County PA 1 - 1900's - 75.6 2 - 1940's - 75.5 3 - 1930's - 75.3 4 - 1910's - 75.2 5 - 1990's - 74.8 6 - 1950's - 74.3 7 - 1920's - 74.2 8 - 1980's - 73.8 9 - 1960's - 73.7 10- 2000's - 73.3 11 - 1970's - 72.4
  11. Here in Western Chester County PA through yesterday the average temperature for July 2020 is at 76.0. If the month ended today that would be the 22nd warmest July since 1894. We have a great shot to finish with a top 20 warmest July...however a top 10 is unlikely. Below are the 5 hottest July's on record 1999 - 80.0 / 1901 - 79.2 / 1955 - 78.9 / 1921 - 78.8 / 1944 - 78.7
  12. Picked up 1.09" of rain in the storm tonight....end of our heat wave today here in NW Chesco...will we see another this year? it gets late early here along the relative higher spots of the philly burbs....
  13. Some nice lightning and thunder but main activity just NW of East Nantmeal...picked up 0.09" of rain however - big news is 3rd consecutive 90...our 1st heat wave since July 1-3, 2018 and our 9th heat wave in the last 17 years (2003-Present)
  14. 1st clean (non-rounding up) 90+ day in Western Chester County PA this year as we hit 92.0 for our 3rd 90+ day....can we get a couple more for only our 3rd Heat Wave in the last 8 years here in the county??
  15. My NWS forecast has a forecast heat wave for Western Chester County. If this verifies it will be our 1st heat wave since July 1-3, 2018. We average a heat wave about every other year here in Chesco. Although, we have only had 2 heat waves in the last 8 years. Below are the last 10 heat waves. July 1- 3, 2018 /July 5-7, 2012 / July 21-24, 2011 / July 4-7, 2010 / July 18-20, 2008 / June 7-10, 2008 / August 1-3, 2006 / August 12-14, 2005 / June 24-26, 2003 / August 1-5, 2002 Now we have a little battle between the WXSIM and the NWS forecast for my area with the WXSIM only getting us 1 "cheap" rounded 90 (which would be our 3rd cheap 90 this season) while the NWS gives us 4 straight 90+ days - below are the forecast comparison - who will prevail? Today - NWS 90 - WXSIM 84.7 / Sunday - NWS 93 - WXSIM 89.4 / Monday NWS 94 - WXSIM 89.7 / Tuesday NWS 92 - WXSIM 86.4
  16. The PHL heat island with already their 14th 90+ day while across the "relative" high spots of Chesco both KMQS 84.2 and East Nantmeal 85.1 along with Mount Pocono at 81 stayed well below 90. Climate summary and almanac below for Western Chester County PA for today
