  1. Had to adjust the rainfall when I got back last night. The Cocorahs showed 2.08" from the Wed/Thurs event. The record high today is 98 degrees from way back in 1894. Record low was 45 degrees on this date back in 1902. Record daily rain was 1.20" from 1964.
  2. 1.24" of rain has fallen so far since yesterday. Our record high for today is 96 degrees set way back in 1894. The record low is the 41 degree reading from 1992. The record Chesco rain fall is the 3.00" that fell today back in 1969.
  3. A firmly non-beachy day here in SIC. Water temps have not come up fast this season and chilly sea breezes have been the rule.
  4. We have fallen just a little below average rainfall for the year to date. Looks like we may pick up enough rain today to put a smile on the many farmers across Chester County! Our record high for today is 97 degrees set back in 1921. The record low is 42 degrees from 1940. The daily rainfall record is the 3.75" that fell back in 1972 with the remnants of Hurricane Agnes.

  7. So far this month we are running almost a full degree below normal temperatures. Normal high temps are now in the low 80's. With increasing clouds today and showers tomorrow we will likely not see temps above 80 degrees until both Friday and Saturday. Record high today is 97 degrees from 1923. Our record low is 39 degrees back in 1926. Record daily rainfall was the 1.83" back in 1978.
  8. Almost all spots in the county made it down to the chilly 40's this morning. Even East Nantmeal we made it down to 49.5....suspect that will be our last 40's till September. Our record high for today is 98 degrees set back in 1923. The record low is 38 degrees from 1926. The record daily rainfall is 1.36" on this date in 1913.
  9. Some mid- to upper 40's for low temps in many of the valley locations across Chester County this AM - only made it to 51.5 in East Nantmeal on the VP Station. Today's daily records for Chester County include a record high of 96 degrees set on this date way back in 1905. Record low temp was the 42 degrees in 1956. Record rainfall is the 1.84" that fell today in 1996.
  10. The record lowest maximum temperature for today is 66 degrees today back in 1973. Our maximum temperature so far during the day today is the current 63.9 degrees. However, at 12:01 am the temperature was still at 71.8 degrees so that will go down as the high temperature for the day and we will not be setting a low max record. But it is probably safe to say this will go down as the coldest June 18th during the daytime since record keeping began here in Chester County way back in 1894!

  13. Nice example of siting choices influencing measured temps with full sun across my property. 2 properly sited and shielded units Ambient and Vantage Pro 2 - both exactly 79.0. The roof mounted (10 feet above) Tempest station at 82.9 degrees.

  17. We have picked up 0.56" of rain so far overnight in East Nantmeal Twp. Today's record high temperature is 95 degrees set in 1914. Our record low is 42 degrees in 1979. Record rainfall is the 2.36" that fell in 1968. On the 11th and 12th of 1968 a combined 5.66" of rain fell across the county.

  19. Could indeed be the start of the next phase of our standard cyclical climate change as we start a turn back to a few cooler decades than normal....

Have shared variations of this before... but some clear strong consistency across the 3 longest running NWS Cooperative locations in Chester County...with the vast majority of the warmest summer (June thru August) decades occurring prior to the 1990s. Eight (8) of the top ten (10) warm summer decades at both Coatesville and Phoenixille occurred before the 1990's and seven (7) of the top ten (10) warmest summers at West Chester also were realized prior to 1990. That said - I note that the 2000's and 2010's would likely have ranked much higher with the change in Coatesville/Western Chesco obs to the higher elevation stations starting in the mid-1980's
