  1. GFS has sped up the cold air arrival and now has the change to non-liquid occurring during the 4am hour in NW Chester County
  2. That 0.25" of ice would not be great here in NW Chesco and the LV IF the NAM is correct...
  3. Latest NAM is in pretty good agreement now with GFS on timing of FROPA and ZR start as the 0c surface line starts to reach NW Chesco during the 7am hour on Friday
  4. Freezing temps look to be entering Chester County from NW to SE around 7am on the GFS and getting close on the NAM
  5. January was indeed a cold month here in Chester County. In fact we finished with an average temperature of just 26.6 degrees, our coldest January since the 26.2 average temp back in 2015. Overall it was the 35th coldest January since Chester County records began 129 years ago back in 1894. Snowfall wise we finished with 12.9" of snow which is 2.5" above normal. Precipitation (including liquid equivalent snow) was 3.81" which is 0.25" above normal. Seasonal snowfall stands at 12.9" which is 3.8" below our normal season to date snowfall through the end of January which is 16.7"
  6. Agreed in this area it is pretty rare to go the rain to ice to snow route..the cold air will certainly be drilling in by the pre-dawn hours of Friday morning....
  7. The 1 foot line is a bit off as we will finish January with an above snowfall month here (12.9") in NW Chester County and just under 4" below seasonal norms to date...but for sure more to the north and south so a real relative snow hole!!
  8. Our 5.8" of snow here in NW Chesco melted down to 0.41" w.e. so 14:1 ratio

  10. Our final snow total in East Nantmeal Township was 5.8" - with 3.0" falling since midnight. The January snow total is now 12.9" which is 2.9" above normal for January to date and means we will finish with above the normal January snowfall in Western Chesco of 10.5". We are at 79% of normal seasonal snowfall just 3.3" below our normal seasonal snowfall through today of 16.2". Easy fluffy snow the blower worked like a champ this time!! finished product attached!
  11. Continues to snow steadily back here in East Nantmeal Twp with another 0.5" of snow falling since 530am. Our snow total so far from the storm is 5.3" (3.3" since midnight) . Radar shows snow backing westbound so may pick up some additional accumulations this AM. Temp is at 15.8 (low for the day)
  12. As of 530am storm total snowfall up to 4.8" with 2.0" since midnight - the temp is down to 17.1 with winds gusting to 8mph from the NNE
  13. Since midnight another 1.0" of snow has fallen here in East Nantmeal Twp. Storm total 3.8" temp down to 20.4
  14. At midnight 2.8" of snow for the event today in East Nantmeal Twp in Chester County - snow coming down heavier than all night with temp down to 26.9
  15. Snow continues to increase in intensity back in NW Chester County as some of the marine influence begins to push back and up into the hills in the NW burbs

  19. I do love fake news for fun...just saw ABC National News as always leading with " life threatening storm" impacting blank million people in the mid atlantic and Northeast....they really do have a checklist!!

Precipitation (liquid equivalent) mostly less than a quarter of an inch. Snow accumulation 1 to 2 inches. Saturday: Dense overcast in the morning, becoming cloudy in the afternoon. Snow likely in the morning, then a slight chance of snow in the afternoon. Breezy. High 27, but temperatures falling in the afternoon. Wind chill ranging from 8 to 16. Wind north around 14 mph, gusting to 25 mph. Chance of precipitation 70 percent. Precipitation (liquid equivalent) mostly around a quarter of an inch. Snow accumulation 2 to 3 inches.

Justin you are correct! my point and click had 0.5" possible by this evening.....snow continues to fall steadily but lightly -latest HRRR looks like we may never stop snowing as the coastal begins to throw moisture back to the west. That said much less snow will clearly fall here in the NW burbs compared to philly and points east!!
