  14. Looking at the NWS Cooperative Station near me in Glenmoore PA - shows the same data as I have analyzed....at least in the Philly burbs of Chester County...all of the longest running COOP sites show that if anything Septembers since the 1950's are cooling not warming....but folks still "feel" that September's here in Chester County have warmed....why is that?? I get that if you watch the news and at PHL it has warmed you assume it must be the same away from the UHI issues at PHL but...
  15. Some rainfall amounts so far today across Chester County PA. East Nantmeal 1.17" / Marsh Creek 1.02" / Downingtown 1.38" / Elverson 0.72". Today will not be a wash out but there could still be some showers almost anytime. Rain chances increase again later today and tonight. Showers could linger until later on Monday. The one consistent will be the very chilly autumnal temperatures. We should stay in the 50's for high temperatures and lows in the 40's till Wednesday. We will warm to near normal by Thursday before more unseasonably chilly air arrives by Friday. The record high for today is 93 degrees set way back in 1897. The record low is 29 degrees from 1947. 16. September will end as the 4th month over the first 9 months with below normal temperatures here in Chester County PA. As you can see below the trend in Chester County has been for cooler Septembers than we used to experience. No doubt this will not be reflected in the weather data you will see on TV posted from the urban heat island that is the Philadelphia International Airport.
  17. An extended period of unseasonably chilly and wet weather looks likely across Chester County from later today through Tuesday. High's today and the rest of the week will stay in the low to mid 60's this is about 8 degrees below our normal highs. It looks likely we will finish September with below normal temperatures. This would be our 4th below normal month in the first 9 months of 2022. Our last below normal month was in June. Our record high for today is 87 degrees set in 1921. This is the first day since April 30th that the record high temperature is not over 90 degrees here in the County. The record low temp for today is the 30 degrees set back in 1947. Our daily rainfall record is the 2.97" that fell today back in 2004.
  19. Our dry and below normal temperatures should continue for the rest of the work week. Still keeping an eye on Hurricane Ian that could bring some showers across Chester County over the weekend. The record high for today is 92 degrees set way back in 1900. Our record low temp is 30 degrees from 1947. Daily rainfall record is 4.02" from 1985 - that rain was the result of Hurricane Gloria which over the 2 days ending today resulted in 5.59" of rain here in Chester County.
  20. Today will be our last chance to touch our normal high temperature for the upcoming week. Normal high today is 71 degrees. For the rest of the week we should see sunny skies and temps falling from highs in the upper 60's tomorrow to the low to mid 60's by Thursday and Friday. We will have to keep an eye on Hurricane Ian coming up from the gulf and possibly impacting us with some showers by next weekend. The record high for today is 93.5 degrees set in 1895. The record low reading was the 30 degrees set back in 1922. The daily rainfall record is 2.28" set today in 1902.
  21. Today should be the warmest day of the week with temps in the low 70's but there will be a few showers around later this morning and a better chance of stronger storms and possibly some thunder in the 2pm to 4pm time frame across Chester County. Much cooler air again arrives by Tuesday with below normal temperatures for the rest of the week. Our record high today is 93 degrees from 1970. The record low was 34 degrees from 1983. 22. We did make it down to 48.7 degrees here this AM - temps today will likely stay in the 50's across some of the higher spots across Chester County PA today. With the exception of Sunday and Monday the next 7 days taking us through the end of September look to average below normal temperature wise. In fact I think we have a good chance to end September with our 1st below normal month since June. This would be our 4th month so far in 2022 of the 9 months that has averaged cooler than normal. Our record high for today is 97 degrees set way back in 1895. The record low is 31 degrees from 1904. The daily rainfall record is the 1.81" that fell today in 1975.
  23. A strong cold front will move across Chester County from west to east. Rain should start by 11am and be through the area by 1pm. Temps will fall back from a high this morning around 70 back through the 60's with 40's by tomorrow AM. Total rainfall should be under 0.25" The record high today is 99 degrees set way back in 1895. Our record low is 31 degrees in 1904. Daily rainfall record is 1.81" in 1975.
  24. Plenty of low to mid-50's for low temperatures this AM across Chester County but only made it down to 56.0 here in East Nantmeal. Today could be the last 80 degree day for much of The County before we turn cooler starting tomorrow. The cold front looks to cross the County tomorrow morning with a good shot of some showers and maybe a thunderstorm. The record high today is 100 degrees from way back in 1895. This was the latest 100 degree reading in county history. Of note we have not had a 100 degree day in over 20 years (8/2/2002) and before that was 7/15/1988. Those are the only 2 days over 100 in over 56 years going back to 1966. The record low today is 30 degrees from 1956. Our daily rainfall record is the 4.30" that fell today in 1979.
  25. We did pick up a little rain yesterday across mainly the NW spots in Chester County with .05" falling in East Nantmeal. Today will be a little cooler than yesterday with a bit lower humidity and a stronger breeze out of the northwest. We have a one day warm up tomorrow that may for many here in the county our last chance to touch 80 degrees till next spring. A strong cold front with some possible thunderstorm chances will swing through Wednesday into Thursday morning. This will send temps to well below late September norms. I suspect some relatively higher spots may not get our of the chilly 50's on Friday. The record high for today is 93 degrees set way back in 1895. The record low is also the earliest freezing temperature ever recorded in the County with records back to 1888 - 32 degrees today back in 1956. This also resulted in the shortest growing (freeze free) season in county history at just 119 days. We average 189 days in the higher elevations and 172 days in valley locations. The record rainfall for today is the 2.48" that fell in 1938.
