  1. Why was this thread needed when we already have banter, panic room, and futility threads?
  2. Outside of heli skiing in Alaska, it’s hard to beat little cottonwood canyon when they get locked into a good cycle. It just dumps there. Here’s a pretty cool article and vid on what it’s like to be there when they go into interlodge. https://www.alta.com/stories/interlodge
  3. The smokies are in a nice upslope cycle this weekend. The webcam for beech Mt shows pretty nice conditions for them. https://www.beechmountainresort.com/mountain/webcams/?_ga=2.56911721.2145001976.1673704310-1744287405.1673576666
  4. But when mods get involved in the bickering, which has happened at times in this sub, it signals to everyone else that’s it’s cool.
  5. We don’t live in an area that excels at retaining snowpack for long periods of time. Even those living in the mountains of northern carroll suck at retaining their pack.
  6. And for the Davis/Canaan crew.
  7. For anyone heading to the wv mountains this weekend….
  8. Quite the healthy looking fox. He/she has been eating well.
  9. Weeks. I’ll be out there the weekend of the 28th and the only tickets left for Saturday the 28th were for the 7pm session. I’ve done it 3 times and it’s a blast. It is not your normal sled run…..it’s longggggg and fun. It looks like there are only some 7pm slots left on saturdays in January so you may want to look at February. An alternative would be tubing at Canaan ski area. I’d still buy in advance though.
  10. 30 mile bike ride today. Perfect weather to be out if it’s not going to snow.
  11. FWIW, two stations near the Hopkins Applied Physics lab at the 32/29 interchange got to 55 and 57 respectively.
  12. Emphasis on classic because that’s our climo and is what we do the majority of the time. Roughly 15% of BWIs 10”+ snow months occur prior to January. In other words, no need to full on panic yet
  13. This is still present on the NAMs. Quite the contrast from temps depicted on the GFS.
  14. Basically. Warmer air moving in over paved surfaces that a) have been very cold and b) were treated is causing the condensation.
  15. It’s cool it’s not going to snow. The next few weeks initially look like a complete shutout for all on the EC w perhaps the lone exception being far NNE. As long as it’s dry, it’ll be a great time to get outside for hiking, biking, yard maintenance, having some fires by the pit in the evenings, etc. Take advantage of the lull.
  16. Consecutive mornings w lows in the single digits is impressive given the absence of snow cover. Low of 9.
  17. -18 on spruce knob in WV is the lowest I can find in the sub.
  18. Up in NNE where the front has yet to pass. Quite the morning on the rock pile.
  19. Front is pushing through western PA. Washington, PA dropped 41 to 21 4:45a-6a.
  20. It actually started last night and was allowed to carry over into today.
