  1. The only real difference I noticed was more sustained wind in the 20s. But the gusts were unmentionable for the most part. I've had worse without advisories in similar setups.
  2. I had 8 busted spindles on my back deck when I returned from Italy in early July this past year. Not sure when it happened, but it was some point from June20th-July 2nd when I returned. (My weather station went down on June 20th.) I had a pile of 7 steel chairs lying atop one another and a steel table that was moved 30 feet. Never had that happen, and I've had gusts over 60 since I've been here.
  3. It may have been a release of Starlink satellites. I have seen it twice over my area just after sunset.
  4. Well, in the worst case scenario, at least we get some dim sun or flurries from a storm we've been tracking for over two weeks.
  5. Ripping here now. Sustained at 20-25. Gusts to 40.
  6. That's probably close to biblical for them.
  7. They are. I've had their flurry debris all morning.
  8. We are being quiet, but we're paying attention to those small ticks N.
  9. Bradley has a decent NW-SE aligned runway for this wind pattern. TF has only that smaller one you don't wanna chance due to the likelihood of a long landing.
  10. 320 and 737. Thinking crosswinds, too. 737 almost did a touch and go- to 30 feet. Both had only 1 approach attempt, and shot right off to Bradley
  11. Must be some wind issues at TF Green. Two flights diverted to Bradley in last 15 minutes.
  12. Come to CT. We don't need a weather event to lose power on a regular basis. My road literally has poles dating back to the 1920s. They aren't replaced until they come crashing down.
  13. While we're at it, there's also this: "The Old Farmer's Almanac predicts a below normal snowfall for the northern East Coast, and an above normal snowfall for southern areas during the 2024/2025 winter season."
  14. I just polished off an unattainable bottle of Rombauer chardonnay that was supposed to be reserved for a dinner guest tomorrow evening. Now I have to tell him I tripped on the way up from the basement. I don't think I've used that line on him before.
  15. The only thing that would make this site crazier over the next 12 days is if one side of the river ends up with 2', and the other side gets nothing or rain. I wouldn't want to be in here for that. A true Civil War.
  16. I started playing it as soon as I put my cranberry muffins in the oven. Instead of setting the timer, the only reason I left it on was because it was the exact length of time they needed to cook.
  17. I love his disclaimer 22 seconds before the end of the video.
  18. Funny, it was only about a month after I had signed up for an account here and began lurking. That was probably one of the first storms whose development I would have followed on here.
  19. The 1/11 - 1/12 storm was so great on so many levels. My mom and I were at a friend's house while it came down. Drinking, carrying on. My gf was on her way up from the city and got stuck about a half mile away in downtown Woodbury. We all walked through the storm to meet her and just had a great time walking back in the middle of Rt 6 and frolicking away like the kids we were. But it wasn't fun digging her car out the next morning with a hangover.
  20. This is the GFS. "Here she comes...and there she goes."
  21. OK, just playing around. Grok had this to say: "The next major snowstorm for New England may potentially occur around early January, with model data pointing towards significant winter storm events sometime between January 7th and 12th. However, weather forecasts, especially long-range predictions, can change, so these dates and events should be considered tentative."
  22. It's as good as we can expect. If it showed us exactly what we want to see at 8 days out, you know it would only go one way from there. Can it get worse? Sure Can it get better, yes. A storm is on the board, with the ingredients only 4-5 days out.
