  1. Hopefully not contagious! For some, I guess it pushes a narrative. For others, it's negative attention.
  2. There were 600 outages in CT at 9am from the overnight event that were largely repaired by early afternoon. There are now 1200+, most from the backside winds. Litchfield, Ridgefield, and East Lyme hardest hit, and building more in Western CT.
  3. I moved from Woodbury to a horse farm just over the border in Bethlehem on Hard Hill Rd 3 years ago. I can drive a mile down the hill and the winds will be 10mph while theyre gusting to 30 here. Totally open property in all directions for a half mile, on a hill. Backside winds always overperform up here.
  4. Woodbury/Bethlehem line. Winds pretty crazy here.
  5. WSW 20-24mph sustained here with gusts to 38 now. High of 56F at 12pm, down to 41.
  6. It all comes down to the lost beer, hotdog, and merch sales. That's close to 2.5 million at a full stadium. The NFL calls Hochul and says, "Get out there and cancel the game. Blame it on whatever you need to, but keep us out of it."
  7. Biggest damage in town is a branch crashed into a donkey pen last night, and three donkeys escaped. The town is out if force trying to locate them before the coyotes do.
  8. Maybe a permanent thread entitled "Winter Sucks and I Need Negative Attention" pinned at the top would help alleviate a lot of these posts.
  9. 600 outages in CT now. 1800 in MA, mostly from New Bedford to Plymouth and points east.
  10. 52F. 1.21". Highest gust was 38mph at 4am, then dropped to calm. Shrouded in fog now. Big sustainable backside winds on the horizon now.
  11. IMBY with these type storms, it's always under on the storm winds, over on the backside NW winds.
  12. The situation/erosion might enhance the damage on Friday night/Saturday, even though that storm probably won't pack the same punch.
  13. I would love to know how one measure's snow in 100mph winds.
  14. Do you guys have to look this stuff up, or do you recall it from memory?
  15. About 5000 outages was the high in CT. Down to 3800. After 11:45, my winds went to under 5mph, just before the "line" passed by. Every model and forecast had highest winds between 1 and 4am. My peak gust was 34 around 10pm. Not a wind person, I'll take it. But lots of unhappy linemen looking to rake in some double time, i imagine. Rivers are raging, though. 2.90" plus the pack.
  16. The last 30 minutes i've been under 5mph. My top gust was 34 a few hours back.
  17. Yup.. South to west wind in 5 minutes. Only a few minutes of heavy rain...almost no wind still, though...literally under 10mph.
  18. Last 15 minutes the wind died down to 5-10mph. Just ahead of the line. Deluge just began as I type this...
  19. Calm before the front. Winds down to 8-14mph....but ready to rock again in 10.
  20. I was just outside and I thought I smelled cigar smoke.
  21. Watching the go-arounds at Newark on FlightRadar. 3 in the last 20 minutes.
  22. About 26mph sustained here, highest gust to 36. .56 liquid. Temp shot up 3 degrees in 30 minutes. 40.5F
  23. My brother has a house on the top of Jackson Highland road. What's going on up there?
  24. Agree. If someone likes the destruction, they can just light their own houses on fire or bulldoze them into the ground.
