Very heavy snow heading into central western CT, directly east.

21.2 here. Steady temp for last 2 hours. 1.5" with nice horizontal redevelopment band to my west. HRRR seems to have nailed this for my area. 6 more hours of snow before the changeover, hoping.

Just on a visual depiction, 12z HRRR gives CT another hour of snow before sleet/ice vs 11z.

Very busy ski weekend. I can imagine thousands of people stuck on chair lifts for hours, covered in ice and battered by wind. Be careful.

Could it be that you don't get crystal/flake growth, and that's what it shows as sleet/ice pellets?

HRRR nailed it for CT within 5 hours of start. Quick 3 hour shot, followed by the sleet depiction - which was basically the dry slot working in. I ended with a very thin Creme Brule coating on top of about 3.3"
