  1. Agreed. It seems like a lot of the meso's are putting out some crazy ice accretions. Much higher than the NWS has. But, in my experience, the ice is usually far less than even what the NWS forecasts for me. It seems like we almost always get to a 33 surface temp quicker than indicated.
  2. If you look at the ice hazard maps for the entire state (not just the CWA), Carbon County gets .25 to .50" of ice while Schuylkill gets .10 to .20". I guess the ice storm will stop right at the county line, which is how it's depicted on the map...lol
  3. Does anyone know when the last time the ENTIRE state of Texas was under a Winter Storm Warning at the same time?
  4. I've been perusing the NWS sites in the upcoming harder hit areas of OK and TX, and by mid-week, Oklahoma City may have between 18 and 24 inches of snow on the ground. Astonishing...
  5. Without all the drama, yes. There is sometimes good discussion mixed in with the mess...
  6. They did put out a map out of the CWA on FB and/or their website indicating the regions and their boundaries, but I don't know if it's still available or not.
  7. Did you see Houston with a low of 12 after getting snow and sleet?
  8. Between work and all this snow, my surgical shoulder isn't going to make it... It hurts like hell already.
  9. That's some pretty impressive cold for that far south. Those reds are low teens all the way down into old Mexico. Crazy! As for me, just got home from work. Decided not to do my last load, which was a good call. The guy that loaded ahead of me made the right onto 309 to go up the Blue Mountain and lost traction and got stuck. That would have been my fate as well, had I loaded and tried to go deliver it. After helping him blindside back onto the road he came out of, we both went back to the yard and called it a night. 309 was completely snowpacked. Just went out and we have 1.5" so far.
  10. Waiting to load my truck. Nothing here yet at the base of the Blue Mtn on 309 but virga, but I see we're now in an advisory for 3-5 inches. Pretty good bump up from the 1-2 inches CTP was saying this morning.
  11. And I just went out and measured 14" in the backyard still. Would have been 10", but yesterday...
  12. I didn't push it down there. Now that I'm working again, I want to keep it right here. Nontheless, for quite a few years it did seem like the models wanted to "cheat" the coal region out of snow, and sometimes they were right...lol
  13. I don't think anyone in our subforum has moderator power, so I guess the best that can be done is to report it.
  14. Working so no measuring, but snowing good in Breinigsville. This was about an hour ago, but rates are the same...
  15. I get the idea of snow, but why would anyone want cold air like that?
  16. No. There has been a change of plans and I will stay local. I do start the new job...yup...on Sunday, so this is why the snow is coming...lol. Basically, after the flight cancelled, I had 3 more big bills to pay this week and it scared me enough to re-think the road. I'd have run out of money before I'd have gotten home, especially since a lot of truckstops are pay to park now at $15 to $20 per night. Add to that the fact that I couldn't even take all of my warm bedding and winter gear without adding $90 to the baggage fee, and I was kind of backed up to a wall. I'm happy though. I do prefer being home daily, but most companies insurances weren't allowing me to come on board because of the bus driving. My water hauling former employer could and did.
  17. The murdered couple had a security camera on their roof which caught the whole incident, complete with sound. I saw it posted on Facebook and watched it. I won't share it here, but it was a verbal fight (of unknown reason) that escalated quickly out of control.
  18. If you look at the radar loops, there was a band of heavier snow that rolled through here just as I was getting out of bed. It was almost as heavy as what we had Monday afternoon, but it only lasted about a half hour.
