Where did that 3 day torch go lol
I think we can all agree that we kind of need a 3 day torch to melt some of this snow so that we have room for more. And the sidewalks and parking lots can be cleaned off better to keep everyone safe. Let's get that Torch!

Yeah its really getting insane whats going on in central NY. Still an anomalous year.
I'm at 45" for Season and believe it or not, 28" in January...roughly normal snowfall in Jan. The nickels and dimes have provided! We need Feb to be like Jan just to reach last year's miserly 76". Forget about the prior year's weaksauce 88"...
KSYZle is at 35.8" season and 22.1" for Jan...Average for the Sizzleport is 29.6" in Jan as of 1/28 and 70.2" for season.

A lot of movement on this storm but it’s back and forth. NYC mets sweating this one
For such a storm to be ID'd on models well in advance, there sure has been a lot of model waffling and only fleeting consensus other than its an ENE coastal only. Thankfully, we're just spectating and not going thru Bipolar reactions every 6 hours....I'm still worn out from that futility from the last storm.
I've been thinking this is going to end up a bit more east than some would like but solid hit from Central LI on ENE

Yeah the low jumping back SE actually hurts their chances of a big one I think?
+NAO, upper level too pos tilt and slp too far offshore. This isn't likely region wide epic. A good storm though for the coast.

It's either gonna be an epic storm or an epic meltdown. I personally can't stand a few members in the NE forum, so I wanna see some crying.
I love the Schadenfreude Karma here...

Don Sutherland is still here I see his climate posts all the time.
Yes he is. Very solid poster. He's always the bogeyman to beat in the ne.wx contests. Which, I might add, i did for Contest #2 this season, placing #1, for the WNY bomb. I have a secret sauce in-house model.
I'm always amazed more ppl dont particiapte. Maybe its marketing. Its rigorous and covers 27 east coast stations but not SYR and BUF bc LES interference.

How about March 2001? NVM, let's forget that one
I still recall the NCEP pre storm discussion on that storm. Everyone was so pumped. Miller B late bloomer. Models sucked exhaust on that one. Used to have it saved. What a Bust!! Actually, in SECT we ended up doing ok in the end, around 10". NYC and south...oof. it was going to be 1996 on steroids but...no. The Gov of CT closed interstates to truck traffic early and it rained and did nothing for half that time. People were pissed. Today, everyone rolls over like slapped asses at every govt edict "to be safe". Pathetic.

Anybody old enough to remember ne.weather on usenet?
Hells yeah. I had great fun on usenet lambasting DT with other Mets that despised him. Along with J Bartlo (R.I.P.) from Mt. Pocono. He despised us "psests." I'm still in the ne.wx snowstorm and seasonal prediction contests. I've won both before. It's all wanking till you have to predict and be measured. Almost noone on EUS participates, other than Don Sutherland in NYC Forum. Guy is a savant.

Albany isn't much better at around 12, but I do have a soft spot for the New Englanders. I was born and raised in CT. They have some brash posters over there, but overall they're a decent group. They just take their nor'easters seriously.
I posted there when I lived in SNE, for 20 years, in previous wx board lives, it went right down the sh*tter when EUS started and the rest of the world discovered the interwebs. It's like the How Much for Philly crowd with their brains removed. I wouldn't let my dog take a dump there now.

Maybe. I mean you guys deserve a storm too. Next week has potential.
Which one of the Sizzling gullywashers would you be referring to? We'll be frying eggs on the sidewalks downtown.

To be fair the GFS is the only one showing no storm.
True, likely doing its usual f*ckery but just about everything is trending east from where it was a day ago as the much vaunted "more accurate sampling" is ingested...

It will. Even some of the shaky 18Z models have LI getting 12-18" or maybe more.
