Well if 8 of 9 systems screw us odds are it’s something we’re not seeing that is unfavorable, not “bad luck”
I beleive if you compare what the models do when we are at present compared to what they did look like for today (10 days ago @ day 10) there is a greater process that the models are not compensating for that constantly makes things less favorable as we get closer to a really good period
we will see in 7-10 days
that's the story of this entire winter so far. always 7-10 days away

It’s showing up on models somewhat consistently
one thing I noticed on 18z gfs , precip looked like it hit a wall of dry air over SW Maine and the area east of MHT to Concord a few hours longer holding off the thump
There has been a hole in that area of nh on several models for a couple days. wonder why

All those with the standard cold February forecast are jumping all over it. Did anyone anywhere forecast a warm February ?
"However, a major stratospheric warming event has begun," according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Brett Anderson."
AccuWeather's winter forecast, which was released during the late summer of 2018, did not call for a significant and long-lasting downturn in temperatures until late January and more so during February for the eastern U.S.
At this point, people from the Great Lakes to the Northeast should still expect late January to February to feel like the middle of winter.
“Late January to February will feel like the middle of winter”. You don’t say!

The fact that this has happened every year in recent memory definitely has something to do with a shifting climate. It’s not normal and I know for a fact it makes most in this forum uneasy.
ginx posted an example of it happening before, and there are many more examples just like it. take a deep breath and relax. it really does happen almost every year.

I have. Of course, maybe I replaced them with crappy ones. I'll try again.
Thanks.
it's worth a shot. is your station in a new location? or has it been there for a while without issue?

My lacrosse station keeps losing connection between the sensor and the monitor. I don't think it's a distance thing(it's only about 50'), and besides it does report for a period of time before crapping out.
Any suggestions on how to remedy this?
Thanks!
have you tried replacing batteries?

Pretty good snow right now in Andover at work.
plain rain over here in Lexington. it almost feels like there might be some snow mixed in, big fat rain drops, but i don't see anything. Ugly.

Just got done with the driveway. Light sleet with flakes mixed in. Guesstimate 7" compacted.
Complete leaf debacle. Took a pic of my yard disaster but the file is too big to upload.
leaf disaster is right. so many oakies on top of the snow, nevermind all the leaves that were still on the lawn. i hope this crap melts quickly so i can get it cleaned up before winter really sets in.

that's the right call. Rt 3 south sucks on sunny days. 1,000,000 times worse with any kind of weather

I'm in the car right now. As a passenger... On Route 93 in central New Hampshire. They have large DPW trucks with large cylinders on them and some kind of spray system spraying liquid calcium chloride on the roads. I have never seen them pretreat the interstate like this before a storm. Maybe they're doing it because this is the first time the roads have been treated the season I don't know?
NHDOT does that before pretty much every storm.

Arguably 2002-03. 2004-05 had a hiatus for about 10 days in January but was close with a solid event around 11/12. 1995-96 had a few breaks with big warmth but it did go November to April.
02-03 started early, but after an early Dec storm (maybe the 5th?), there was a bit of a thaw leading up to the xmas day storm. your point stands though.

I know it’s heresey on this board but I’m not ready for deep winter to set in yet. I’ve got to fix the tire on my snowblower and finish a couple of other things. I’d be stoked in a few weeks but I’m not ready yet.
100% violent agreement. have not finished up my fall chores yet, and the snowblower is buried in the barn. Not good
