My fields are now mostly snow free although the ground is still totally snow covered in the woods.

Deer are out having a lot of fun, being able to run on bare ground.   I made this 3 minute video of them late this afternoon.  They have so much personality.  Video starts slow but then they all get running around.

great video. that one in the foreground towards the end of the video looked ike a dog running around.

Interesting, but where you say philly climate to our doorstep...temporary? For when next Winter arrives back to some what normalcy and hopefully no more fast flow shit where something can at least phase into something, i wonder what our summer will beike after this shit show.

i know TT didn't say this, and i don't think he meant it, but i highly doubt you will see a Philly climate in Nashua in your lifetime.

All signs point towards a warm period after the 12th or so.

i am with you and am ready for some spring weather, but didn't all signs post to a snowy period coming up a few short weeks ago?

Just in time, dry periods in Spring lead to brush fires like those already happening this week. Facts are since the first of the year it's been dry and below normal.  Just facts, rivers are low, no snow melt. No one says drought because that's a fraud 5 you make up. Like saying its pouring  .02 today.

it would help prove your point “dry since the first of the year” if you would post a map the full time period. can you post the map from 1/1 to now?

So I have the pleasure of getting off my parents health insurance next month (turning 26) and am choosing between an hmo and ppo for myself and wife.

Ive always has a ppo on my parents insurance, and that has worked well, especially when needing to see a specialist for various reasons.

Im leaning ppo, any practical reasons not to do so?

Its about 50$ more per pay period and co pays are 10$ higher

what about the deductibles? they can be very different between plans

Is it too late to hand out the syllabus with the grading criteria for this course?

A big chunk is seasonal snowfall

    Cold

    Pack depth

    Pack retention

    # of storms.  Possibly number of warning events?

Extra credit for things like thundersnow, WINDEX events, tornadoes, frost quakes

    weenie away

so far for me, all above criteria are F

It's definitely a wholesale change going forward. Although nothing is imminent in terms of individual snow events, that's about as good as we have seen over the last two months. It is by no means perfect, but it's probably our best shot since December. I know that isn't saying much.

when do you think it will change? end of Feb into march?

We haven't gone to NH for a number of years because of the insane amount of the fish and game cops. It gets ridiculous when you get stopped several times a day for registration checks etc. Its maddening after a while!! No such issue in VT and Maine

I don’t know about that. I have ridden close to 20k miles all over the state and I’ve seen them less than 10 times. I’ve been stopped once, and that was a legit stop, I was going way too fast. no ticket though.

If there is still snow by the time NH’s free weekend comes, I want to do that from the Lebanon end.

it’s a very nice trail. have some lunch at the Pizza Chef in Andover. Excellent pizza. It about 40 miles from Lebanon right on the trail.

just be mindful that the fish and game cops like to hang out on that trail because it is flat, straight, and can be fast

    Ok, I'll take this deal.

Hold onto existing snow pack and add to it this week a bit, then get a 2 week period of snow and cold end of month and first 10 days of March.  Then a melt out and peas in the garden by April 1.

i was out on the snowmobile up your way yesterday. Trailered to Depot St then jumped on the rail trail and headed up towards Lebanon. Tons of sled traffic, but the trail was awesome. very convenient spot to trailer to.

Ha, funny. Yeah when I lived in the city, people almost enjoyed (in a sick way) helping others dig out. Like that article said, you skip by the pleasantries and just help others dig out. It’s not the most friendly city, but I always felt like people looked out for one another.
Epstein is right that we enter winter later and come out earlier in the future....but we dove into winter heat first this year...jumped out of it thanks to AK vortex and haven’t been back in lol. You can blame AK for this...not CC.

James, my man, remember the time(s) you typed right here on this board that you were going to stop forecasting with emotions, and follow the models/meteorology instead?
