the downside with rocks is inevitable weed growth. I am sure you put a barrier underneath it, but weeds, especially crabgrass don’t need much sand/dirt/soil to grow. So with rocks you have to constantly pull weeds and/or spray them with chemicals. mulch itself acts as a weed barrier, assuming you put down a heavy layer. I agree that they look good at first though

I’m throwing down like 4-6” of loam and am going to seed the shit out of it and see what happens.
make sure you have a solid plan for watering that grass seed, otherwise it will be a waste of time and money.

Lets get the Pemi into PSU.
yeah, it usually takes about 0.25" of rain for that to happen.

Thanks for the info on Diamond Pond...good stuff! Definitely a snowy place, at least based on the 15 years of data. Even in the inferno of 1997-98, they still saw 161".
Their November snowfall is very impressive...gets the seasonal snowpack going right away.
without being able to totally zero in on that location, the area right around it is over 2k feet elevation.

I had a dream we were getting 8-12'' of snow tomorrow. I don't usually get snow dreams
But I did last April too and we had big severe in May so hopefully that's a good sign

I am surprised how many rip and read forecasts are going out tomorrow, esp near and north of pike. It looks pretty cool overall. I expect many angry posts from the public and rightfully so. SO what if it warms up after 4pm. Day is over.
those of us with outdoor plans tomorrow are already disappointed

I think the last time we had an explosion of spring wildlife that summer was active in terms of severe weather.

Congrats everyone! Wow at the yellows on the radar down there. a really nice 5.5" here. I'm not complaining. Real pretty outside. I leave in an hour and a half for Logan to fly to NYC. Hope highways are cleared down there.
uh, you might want to leave super early, or not at all. WMUR just reported 90 minute drive time i-93 from Manchester to Boston. that is going to be a miserable drive for you

I was looking through some footage from one of my game cameras and I had a clip from earlier in the week with all the wind that I just had to share. I know we're always posting pictures of fallen over chairs in the wind but check this out:

up in CON for an appointment, 0.0000000” here, although I might have seen a flake or 2 an hour ago. could very well have been someone’s dandruff flying in the wind though

The HREFs of the SPC, Scott N's favorite HIRES model, shows a 24-hour max of around 8-10" with a 12-15" max about 30 miles east of CHH. I was wondering, could we get intense banding to develop off the ocean moving westward from the east? We have low-level easterly flow develop later tonight?
who is performing the measurement on the whale's backside?

You know what, that’s what I’m thinking of. My folks have that at the lake and it gets nuts without ripping it out.
knotweed is the devil's spawn. it is very dificult to dig up and get all the roots. if you don't get all the roots, it will come right back. i haven't had to deal with it, but have heard that you chop the stalk down to 6-12", pour straight undiluted round-up into the hollow core. i guess it works pretty well

Doesn’t take much to wipe out the upper and lower A arms, I did that on one of mine, Had only 200 mi, Totaled it going 10 mph, Took out both A arms, Bent the Nun, Twisted the tunnel, And the crank was off 2.5 degrees on the motor and I walked away with hurt feelings.that sounds exactly like my little incident aside from the age of the sled. ‘09 Ski Doo Renegade 600 e-tec. Just hit 4K miles. I think I was going about 10 also. guess I’ll be shopping for a new machine, hoping to get a 900 Ace next.

Any injuries?
nothing serious, bumps and bruises. Hit a tree when right ski wandered off trail into powder and couldn’t recover. Hit tree between right ski and front bumper, but hit it hard enough to twist tunnel. I thought I got lucky and got away with having to replace both upper and lower a-arms, but I guess not. Funny thing is, did another 350 miles after the crash with no probs. Injury wise, right arm hit the tree as I went over and through the windshield, so that took the brunt of it. Deep bone bruise, that’s it though. No head injury, so I got that going for me.

Totaled my snowmobile last week. Expect deep, heavy snow now that I don’t have a sled.

saw a few pellets at work in Cambridge at around 8:30 this AM. was weird, since it didn't feel very cold out.
