  1. Min 38F...up to 48F with partial sun. Nice Stein stretch here as well. I got scorched in the sun yesterday. Rock lobster.
  2. lol. Wife’s mom said it’s over 80° in Flint today. I hadn’t even been paying attention. Damn do we suck this time of year.
  3. These are the Trader cultivar from that tree in ND that’s survived out there for over 100 years. I wanted to get one as hardy as I could. Unfortunately they are tiny plants, but you have to start somewhere. I plan to grow them in the run (at least one of them) so it’ll be protected from birds. The only problem will be the height. I’ll have to heavily prune it to keep it from going above the hawk netting. I could always find a way to raise the netting up higher too I suppose. I’m looking into starting honeyberries now. Anyone grow those?
  4. Yeah if they’re in pots you’ll be fine if you protect them. I have my avocados outside already…I just bring them into the garage with frost threats.
  5. 33.1° here. Only sign of frost I saw was on top of the truck…not even any dew on the windshield, but we were lightly mixed.
  6. My musa basjoos are in. Chicago hardy fig and mulberries as well. We’ll see how well they can survive a winter here. The fig and bananas will obviously die back to the ground, but hopefully put up new growth in the spring. We have fewer growing DDs than the typical zone 5 because of the slow spring warming.
  7. I’ve never done the beans, but if there’s any of those to wait on it may be those. I think maybe @dryslot does them? Scallions may even be perennial where you are. I know some are perennial down to z6.
  8. yeah pretty much this. Not sure if he’s in as much of a frost pocket like TAN is either. I know Bob tends to be a littler warmer than the rad pit ASOS.
  9. That's not with wind. Probably an elevated hollow.
  10. I had 27.0F and the grass is growing fine. Are you applying the lava rock treatment?
  11. I wonder how far into spring I can go without a 70°. Mehpril.
  12. lol at those GFS runs that kept dropping 4"+ here
  13. A couple tenths of snow/sleet. It’s a sloppy mess out there. 34.7°
  14. Here’s the big blue spruce by my run and what happens after a couple decades if you plant too many too closely.
  15. Wherever they start losing sun the branches in those areas will start to die off. But yeah, plants are smart. If they’re not getting enough sun growing outward, they’ll put more energy into growing upward. That’s why you have so many tall, lanky/leggy trees growing in tall forests. A pine tree that I let grow in the backyard all alone looks like a giant shrub.
  16. Awesome day. 57.9F and SKC although the high clouds are approaching. Get the crap out of here by late morning tomorrow and maybe we can salvage some afternoon sun too.
