  1. I definitely do not wish I lived in the south
  2. I'm not a dr and I don't have any proof of the potency thing, but its what my dr told me.
  3. one saving grace is the virus has lost its potency from spring.
  4. We are going to be making some amendments to our holiday gatherings but I am not sure how drastic yet. I want to be as cautious as possible but I am not going to let covid ruin my holidays.
  5. There are so many long haulers. I have an aunt who is one. She had it in March and April. She still has a few effects though she can live her life normally now. Still has occasional cough and loses some hair. That's what's so baffling about everything. If you have a mild case it absolutely will just feel like the flu. In fact I had a bad flu 4 years ago and that felt worse. However, when you have the flu, when it's done it's done. With this its like you charge your battery from 10% to 85 or 90% but then you're stuck there for weeks and can't get to 100%.
  6. Thanks! I've talked to many who work in the medical field and they ALL say the same thing...im fine, this is totally normal to have minor issues linger for weeks. Thats whats so crazy about this virus imo. The longevity, not the severity. I had a total of about 10 days that id consider "bad". But were talking 3.5 weeks and im still not 100%. So realistically its possible that I will go 4-5 weeks before im totally myself (God willing no more LOL) despite only 10 days of it being really bad.
  7. I mask up everytime I'm in public and always have sanitizer. My personal guess? On Sept 24 a friend and I went to run an errand and dinner. He works at a restaurant, I work from home so he sees more people. Neither one of us had any symptoms of any kind. We even shared a drink. We both started feeling ill later the next week. we both tested positive Oct 2nd. Mine ended up worse than his (still mild).
  8. wow, good for you running a marathon! I'm no doctor but from what I'm told my chest xray looks good for not having any long term damage. I had an xray earlier this week and it was much clearer than the Oct 8 one, but not 100% so I have one more Nov 19 to make sure all is clear.
  9. I'm feeling so much better but still have a lingering cough. for me it was like an 8 day flu (oct 2-10) then once that resolved a cough and shortness of breath for a few days. still have a cough and some chest congestion. Moral of the story, even when you have a mild case, minor things will linger for weeks. it can easily be 3-4 weeks before you feel totally better, and that's with a mild case.
  10. We were like ground 0 in 13-14 here. Almost 100" of snow, brutal cold, it had at all. Truly a class all its own. But 07-08 was a good Winter as well, not really all that cold relatively speaking, but a Winter storm parade almost nonstop from December through March. Something that sits well with many also is that Winter did not start too early nor did it linger on way into the end of April or may as has been the case in recent years (though we had a hell of a Good Friday snowstorm Mar 21). It was just extremely heavily packed for DJFM.
  11. I still ended up with 78". in addition to that there were several rainstorms and some ice.
  12. Another thing is no 2 winters are ever identical. As it is October 2007 was very warm with a late peak color, in contrast to this cool October with its early peak color. 2007-08 was certainly not my favorite Winter, because it did not have the constant buried in snow of 2013-14 due to its Nina-esque thaws being common. But from a storm parade standpoint you can not ask for more. Fingers crossed!
  13. I'm happily getting that 2007-08 vibe. Dry Fall to start now as we head into winter its getting stormier. The computer forecasts are always to be taken with a grain of salt, but above avg precip in winter seems to be a near unanimous signal at this early stage.
  14. I'm starting to feel much better. just a headache and get winded when doing physical activity. But a few days ago I actually went to the ER because I was so dizzy I could not even stand. Turned out I was drinking too much water and flushed sodium out of my system so I have to eat salty foods and drink Gatorade only for several days. I asked the doctor what are the chances of getting it again once you recover and he said you should be good with your body building up immunity as there's only been so far 2 confirmed cases of 2nd time covid in the US so far. So that's my source lol.
  15. if its 1-2° above avg with lots of storms, there will be plenty to track
  16. There have only been 2 cases in the US of a person getting it a second time. it's starting to seem like people are just coming under the assumption that everybody's just going to get it, open crap up.
  17. I literally just mentioned yesterday that i stay out of this thread for the most part but I have to comment on our presidents theatrics again today. He is already back to down playing it, telling how the flu is worse and of course not wearing a mask. I find it amusing that our obese 74 yr old president caught his hoax virus so bad that he had to be taken to a hospital with round the clock care & oxygen and now a few days later he has recovered to feel "better than hes felt in 20 years". Even though most younger healthy people who catch a much more mild form feel effects of the virus for 2 weeks. I started symptoms before trump, never had anything close to needing oxygen or hospitalisation, and yet I still feel blah, tired, and slightly feverish.
  18. You are being generous. They pretty much shut down for a snowflake. If they get a half inch of snow they are stranded on the road for 8 hours with nothing to do but lament a war they lost 160 years ago.
  19. I did not realize you move back to Massachusetts. When did you do so?
  20. Got a sign to support those essential workers! Really do appreciate all they do during these crazy times
  21. I'm very curious to see what Whitmers next update for Michigan will be. With April 30 just 9 days away, usually she will announce the next step several days in advance, or at least hint at it.
  22. I love Michigan but this minority that protested at the Capitol were pure idiots
  23. Exactly. Who's planting anything in the middle of April lol? Just people wanting to complain, probably the same people that complained that she waited 2 days too long to shut us down in the 1st place
  24. There are a lot of nice huge parks around here, like little patches of rural up North in the middle of metropolitan area. Getting fresh air, despite allergy season starting, is not a bad idea.
  25. Oh it absolutely is in my area, same as you describe. I literally have not left my house in 9 days and that was just for a quick protected sanitize grocery trip. Do not plan to leave for some other time either. However word on the street is that everything is pretty empty. As was posted in a link above, metro Detroit is getting an A to B for social distancing. Not sure about Chicago but I think they're doing pretty good too. My comment was in reference to the widespread coverage that people outside of the heavily populated metro areas are not taking this as seriously.
