Central PA Autumn 2023
pasnownut replied to Itstrainingtime's topic in Upstate New York/Pennsylvania
Just reading this as I'm "catching up" after just typing my $.01 on climate change onsession. I literally typed the same stuff. Glad there is room on the boat named "about to be bashed" for the 2 of us. -

There's nothing acidic about stating ones beliefs in a weather forum full of weenies, and also there's not one person in here that holds absolute/empirical knowledge over the rest of us weenies. This is a forum that has a multitude of beliefs, but for any view from one side, there is a counterpoint from the other. Nothing wrong with that whatsoever, and that's largely why some of us are here, as weather is an imperfect and still largtely unknown and evolving science. Are we warming...sure. Are we responsible for SOME of it....sure. Truth is that there are truths/mistruths being touted by BOTH sides of the warming isles, and politics/money has corrupted enough of what we see/hear to raise ones objective eyebrow...on either side. Like you, I too am old enough to remember "the earth is gonna freeze" to "ocean fronts are gonna flood" stuff. Like Mt. Joy so eloquently stated, the truth is there is enough variability in it to warrant concern as to how much we can do, as well as how much can we "afford" to do with so many other more pressing and controllable or avoidable challenges in front of us as a global society. Great lakes were once part of the ocean, and we had 0% human involvement in that....and no money was spent trying to change it. It happened. I hope that point resonates w/ some of you. I guess my takeaway is that things change no matter how little or much we are a part of it, and based on what we know....we really still have a lot to learn about a planet that is 4.53 billion years old, and am truly wonder what we as a society can do in the next 50 yrs to "save" it from evolution. That's just ground truth. -

Yep. Weather forum "clickbait". No different than when it shows 12"+ IMBY...but its still 192hr away. At least this summer has brought some "consistency" to the mid/long ranges as they all can suck equally...no matter the time of year. -

If someone is willing to come from Iowa to watch their team get shellacked - just to be part of the experience....that tells me all I need to know about whiteouts -

We also took the first 1/2 of PSU whiteout in at local pub. Looked like it was not too bad weather wise (but I guess thats easy to say from inside and on a barstool). Some day I'll get to a whiteout. Looks like a great time. My last time tailgaiting 2 yrs ago first game of season was a fantastic experience. -

2360' is about tops for my area. Ridge behind cabin is right where that is. My bro was fly fishing benn gully (class A fy fishing nut he is) in a t shirt, shorts and hiking boots. Came back soaked to the bone and was giddy about how cold it was. His wires don't touch (and he's likely part Neanderthal). -

High of 49-50 on Saturday up in northwoods. After cleaning chimney, we started a fire to take the chill out of the early autumn air as the rain started early saturday afternoon. It was moderately wonderful. also, cabin is at 2275' elevation for any that question my lacrosse digi weather guage accuracy. -

I told her to get on beach this morning and find a barstool this afternoon and enjoy time w/ gal pals. Im looking forward to coffee on back porch of cabin and putting some miles on my legs in the mountains tomorrow morning . Have a great weekend wherever you are. Life is good. edit - Go STATE -

Looks like the nooners are keeping nothingburgers as their hot selling item on the weather menu. Not sure if this look holds, but history likes to repeat, so be mindful. HP up north is not really stout, but might be enough to shunt the brunt to easter locals. -

mowed #dunnodontcare last night (I really enjoy mowing - just being a smartass in the lawn and garden thread). i have some serious patchwork that needs done. Some asian grass has taken hold and i need to kill it, plus we are giving up on the garden and need to plant something other than the weeds that took residence. Now that kid is married and moved into his house, I can start taking care of mine again. lol Dogs and nice lawns are not often said in the same sentence. Been there...did that. Wish you luck pal. -

cept for that one cherrypicked one... In all seriousness, there is likely some undertone of validity to what Bradfords warming might suggest, but above maps keep us within normalish goalposts. If one looks hard enough, one can always find something to fit their "feelings". -

while its looking less wet here, I'm watching for tomorrow night or friday runs to have the "coming back" looks start to show. Eastern 1/2 of the state should be ready for more grass (re)growing this weekend. -

WVA is the most beautiful state I've visited in the east. Been there 2x and cant wait to get back. Put aside the stereotypes that run amuck. People we met were genuinely nice and welcoming. You can find folks just as bad in your hood. Take that Allison Hill walk Sauss suggests. -

since were doing a little model disco, I'll add that the Icon has jogged notably east of its prior 2 runs. Not diggin too deep but as we look for trends, it went toward easter globals of earlier this morning.
