  1. Yeah. It would be good if they would target this stuff more precisely. I walked my dog around our entire hood this afternoon (freakin’ cold) without a mask. We saw...no one. Maybe some kids playing in a yard. I don’t think they will arrest me
  2. It’s kind of a toothless mandate. Just requests really. It also makes broad brush statements that don’t make sense in some places. But I get why
  3. Just need to slow it down. That was always the idea. Buy time until effective treatments and vaccine are developed. Masks and social distancing help in that a bit. Not 100%. Testing helps slow down outbreaks a bit. Not 100%.
  4. That sounds pretty typical. It still will help with influenza even if it it doesn’t nail it. In 2004-2005 it was only 10% effective. Oof
  5. Jury is still out. Behavior might play a bigger role than the vaccine. But we get it anyway.
  6. Im hopeful this year’s flu vaccine is effective. Plus there is some (albeit weak) evidence it might be helpful vs Covid-19 https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/a-flu-shot-might-reduce-coronavirus-infections-early-research-suggests/
  7. My primary care doctor was thinking flu might be very low due to social distancing and masks.
  8. School districts around me flipping back to remote as cases spiking. Damn.
  9. While we await a smaller late October storm, this is fun to read through. I miss a bunch of the former posters
  10. My wife has 6 of her students now quarantined due to exposure pending test results. Hill towns in ORH county off to the races now
  11. It goes back to last season. 4-8 in their last 12 games. No receivers. No TEs. Among other problems.
  12. They need the moisture. Wildfires have been awful there
  13. 7 day rolling avg of deaths and hospitalizations rising . slowly but there.
  14. Best of luck with the surgeries. I hope it gives you back some of your freedom or reduces pain
  15. Roger Williams. I should have made that more clear.
  16. At this point not sure what any one person could do other than sending messages to the general population and making sure resources are being sent where and when needed. We know a lot more now than in the spring.
  17. My son’s University in RI has been very successful so far in keeping the virus out. Since late August only 0.01% (Yup) positive tests. Testing all on campus twice a week. Contact tracing positives. They had one small cluster but quickly isolated that.
  18. One thing we all know is that they are testing many more asymptotic people. Back in April only the very sick were really being tested. So there is that 70% of Mass positives in the last month have been people under age 50
  19. You know that even if he were to win (I have doubts) Jan 20 is inauguration. Not sure how much impact he can have before then. The media has been pretty constant with reporting every day. Numbers of cases (lots more testing) climbing. Would not be prudent to ignore. I do wish there were more science based reporting on treatments and therapies Some of those have been very positive
  20. Such horseshit Conspiracy theories with zero evidence have no business being on this board.
  21. Going to be a rough month or two. So far in Mass deaths and hospitalizations have not gone up very much even as positive cases are racing upwards. My brother is livid that hockey rinks are temporarily closing for two weeks due to Covid clusters linked to them. I feel bad for his kids. Of course my own daughter has not been able to take part in her favorite activities since March...
  22. Oaks were shedding leaves like crazy this morning during our dog walk. Definitely early by a couple of weeks
  23. You could use boats this summer. They needed a seal
