Yeah... I mis-typed the date. I haven't heard much about it since it was first announced over the summer. We had ours done in mid October based on our PCP recommendation... he suggested we get it mid to late October.

A tricky problem for many Americans. Don't get the vaccine but be willing to continue with masks, etc.? Get the vaccine and have a document saying you are good and can attend concerts, not wear masks, etc? How would that work? I am guessing my job will require vaccination... we had to for the H1N1 (I think??)

Anecdotally, people I know who have been tested are generally being told to expect a 3-7 day turnaround time but are getting the results in 1-3 days. Sometime like Ginx said under a day. I think it depends on where you are getting it done as well

Could I ask why you don’t get the flu vaccine? I know a bunch of people who do not. I know it isn’t largely effective, but my understanding is that it is incredibly safe.

Our daughter is a theater bug. Nothing since March. The remote learning is awful for some kids. Just awful. I was in a meeting about one of my students yesterday. He has been able to come into the building since we have been hybrid and does great. When he is at home it is a complete shitshow. The chaos and generally awful lives some kids have at home is insane. For some kids remote is perfect. But that is rare. The vast majority of kids in the middle are getting by ok but it is far from ideal.

Yeah. It’s weird. My son’s university has been testing everyone twice a week and have had very few positives since August. Yet a church service in Fitchburg has resulted in over 150 cases with a couple of dozen currently (as of yesterday) hospitalized.

A few. No kids that I know of. One teacher (since recovered) in my building. A couple of parents/guardians. So far nothing very serious. Mostly one to three day stays.

Between the vaccine, natural immunity, and hopefully better hygiene and cleaning methods I would expect this. Some things might have to shut down. Very targeted though. Over the weekend my school district announced that after this week we would be moving from hybrid to full remote for 2 weeks. Not that big a deal since the two days before Thanksgiving would be remote anyway. I would not be shocked if they extend it through December

After going months since hearing of any friends/coworkers etc, it seems to be really taking off in my life. In the last week I know of at least a dozen people who either have it or have recently had it. plus numerous students of mine have had it or have immediate family members they live with have it or have recently had it. Starting to get out of control.
