  1. Finally got some rain yesterday and last night. .40" last night and .55" yesterday. That brings me up to 1.09" for the past week, 2" for the first half of August and 9.3" over the last 3 1/2 months.. Pond is still 100% empty but at least I am running normal precip for the first half of August. Just snapped this picture of our pond. Outflow is at the top. It's about 9 feet deep when full
  2. Nice to get .55" over the past hour. Up to 1.6" for the month. Meanwhile, Fall River is getting absolutely dumped on the past couple of hours. Storm is just sitting and sitting over the city
  3. 68/58F Bright cloudy. Watering the lawn has recommenced. I'm fully expecting the rain shield to come up and tickle my fanny later this PM and then stall but we will see.
  4. I think we can put today in the top 10 day bucket for NNE. 76/52 clear, dark blue skies, light breeze unlimited vis. After so many 60-70F+ dew days, dry air feels amazing.
  5. Just looked at the 12Z GFS. Another 2.5" over the weekend. Hey your at 9" something over the past 3 weeks. Might as well round it to a foot of rain for the 30 month period. Watch the setup cut off the rain right below me yet again.
  6. I just saw that as I posted. I went to my spread sheet. 3.88" over this period for me and 9.21" for you. Wow, like you said in just the past couple of weeks or so you have had more rain than I have had since the end of April.
  7. Another day, another miss for me. .02". 8.37" in past 100 days. I bet Brian 25 miles south of me has double my t amount. Just enough rain to keep the grass green but pond remains dry and daylilies have brownish leaves. Still have not had a T storm this year. I bet there has not been a lightning strike within 5 miles of my house yet. I find it so interesting that 40 miles south in places like Concord just keep getting storm after storm. Luck will change for me then all bets will be off as Mother Nature balances things out. When is the question???.
  8. Sure looks a lot better than earlier this summer. Can you treat the crabgrass and let the other grass grow in or are you still planning a complete do over?
  9. Brian, I'm not sure but I don't think so. Here is a picture of a leaf from my 2-3 year old chestnut. Seems longer and not as broad. I Googed leaves with serrated edges and found a few similar ones. I'm hardly a tree expert!
  10. Watching this evening thunderstorms about 75 miles south of me.
  11. Light rain. Back edge approaching. .45" yesterday afternoon through now.
  12. New tornado warning right over the Chicken coop!
  13. Brian, is it a dopplar indicated or confirmed. Just some light/moderate rain here some distant rumbles. Wonder if I can get through the summer without a bonafide T storm. Noticed FFWatch for C/N NH. This line formed too far south for me but wonder if the thinking is the stuff way down south moves up here later for some heavier rain. Chestnut saplings keep needing drinks...
  14. Batch through. .28" about what I expected. You got that good T storm last week. Then the vicious hail producer awhile back a few miles south of you. Some real gully washers this summer in your area. So far I have yet to have a T storm. Don't know if a couple of claps here and there count but still waiting for one when the sky gets dark and a nice gust front comes through. Ended July with 3.30" so shouldn't be complaining at all. Lots of thunderstorm chances upcoming...
  15. How do you seem to do this, system after system? Just light rain the past 90 minutes. About .10" Hope to get .25" with this batch.
  16. What a difference 20-25 miles makes. Ended up with 2.04" in the past week. I watched that cell that pasted just to your south yesterday. Looked like the core was a mile or two south of you? That one missed me but a shower developed over head an hour later and gave me .10". Grass is now green and my pond has a puddle at the bottom. Looks like the month will end with 3.3" after 3.2" in June and .77" May
  17. My webcam caught some nice showers/storms yesterday. Here is one that passed 1/4 mile south of me. I only got .02" but the heavy rain was so close I could hear it. Note how the cell puts down a new blast of heavy rain and as it falls it fans out. It's about 3/4 through the clip. https://video.nest.com/clip/9d6911371493492592eee86ea3086b04.mp4
  18. 80/70F Flew the drone into the Bahama Blues. Rich blue skies, excellent visibility towering Cu with crisp edges with training showers to my west. The higher ice tops were hidden behind foreground clouds for the most part. Faced the drone cam up a bit that is why you see props.
  19. Looking forward to this weeks rain. Mowed my empty pond today. It's manmade and relies on pasture runoff which comes in through a culvert on the left. Once it gets to its 6 or 7 foot depth the outflow is on the right. It was overflowing as it normally does in April. It has gone dry a few times over the past 17 years I will be curious to see how much water I can get back this week. Need the ground to saturate first or a very heavy 2" plus T-storm that would just provide quick runoff over a bone-dry surface. I'll try to remember to take a picture this time next week for comparison.
  20. .78" up here. Fell over a 3 or 4 hour period. Just a dark morning with a flash of lightning every once in a while. Really needed the rain. Have not had a bonafide T storm yet this year. A couple of flashes here and there. The period coming up looks interesting, lots of tropical downpours and T storms..
  21. Saw the video in the other post. Doesn't seem to be rotating. Don't know what direction this is, east on leading edge of squall line or rear flank of a T storm. If it were me as a spotter I would not be calling this in just based on the video I saw
  22. Looking at the radar the line of storms is becoming oriented E to W through Mass. Convection seems to be building and bubbling back north in W Mass. Could some type of mesolow form along the front to stall the boundary from moving south. Almost seems like that is happening?
  23. 71F Moderate rain with occ. lightning/thunder. .47" Been raining light to moderate past couple of hours.
  24. Thank you Ocean. Yeah the lightning was what I was referring too. Can't remember ever seeing a steam explosion cause this. Multiple flashes in that cloud.
