  1. Rooting for sleet to win out. Located in Richmond
  2. I know it’s not likely but holding out hope for this to trend to more of a sleet storm. That’s just hope, I know it has all the hallmarks of freezing rain. Just could do without that Also in West End of City ended with 3 inches or so from this one. Not bad. The line between accumulating snow and more of a non-accumulating sleet-freezing rain-snow mix didn’t appear to be very far from here. A true fall line special!
  3. Roads have caved in west end of the city. Coming down nicely
  4. Feel like next 2 weeks will make or break our winter here. It’s obviously better than last year and we’ve had plenty to track but right now we are sitting at approx 5-6 inches of total snowfall region wide, or about 50% of average. Models a little frustrating as they keep the bulk of the snow to our north over this upcoming period. Need that to change and to get the cold air further into our area. Really hope we can get something good in here over next 14 days
  5. Looking at GFS and does anyone else feel like this is the most “right on the line” stretch we’ve ever seen in the RVA metro? Look we are always a battleground but seems like every storm threat this winter the models paint a cutoff almost right over the city. Kind of infuriating to be honest. Would like to just get one solid snowstorm in here from start to finish
  6. Heavy wet snow in the west end of the city. I’m at 33 and grass starting to whiten. Wonder how long we can hang onto this?
  7. This storm feels like a win. Could have been more but hard to complain after a morning of sledding and walking the dog in the snow
  8. Maybe around 3.5 in City of Richmond. It’s sleet and freezing rain now. I can’t complain though. Great sledding this morning with the kids. That’s a win
  9. Got about 2 inches in the city. Radar looks great. If we can hold on to snow till noon at least this will be an overperformer
  10. Richmond. 30. Snowing steadily. Everything covered and I’d guess close to 2 inches now. Enough to sled so that’s a win for down here!
  11. Yeah trying to be positive here but after 40 years in this neck of the woods my fear is this is yet another one of those WAA snows that produces a shield of snow that runs basically 30-50 miles north of us for hours while we have the cold temps. Then by the time the precip sinks down to RIC the cold temps are heading out and we go from snow to sleet to rain way too quickly. We need to get in on the long sustained period of WAA snows from the start to make this work. But man that’s tough to do with our climo I fear. Oh well. Hope springs eternal. 4 inches and a dry slot and I’d call it a win
  12. Yep, looks like nothing but cold rain on the horizon. While areas just north of here do pretty well. Frustrating.
  13. Even Richmond getting in on this a bit, snowing fairly well here now with a solid dusting downtown
  14. Richmond closing this thing out, and it was pretty much a miss here just light snow to sleet to a lot of freezing rain, with a nice burst of heavy sleet and snow. Roads covered. Probably about an inch over last 90 minutes
  15. In West End of the city we got maybe an inch of snow, followed by sleet, followed by pouring rain at 32. Branches are fairly well iced up but thankfully, knock on wood, no outages. Hoping for maybe some pity back side snow here in next few hours. Been sitting at 32 for majority of storm
  16. Would definitely be your long awaited revenge on Richmond for 12/9/18! We'd be 22 and sleeting while you get 42 inches. Ha!
  17. I'm an amateur of course but so far midday models appear to be trending a little colder
  18. Can't really figure this storm out. And if you look at the local TV forecasts they can't either. I love NBC 12 right now: 4-6 inches, but maybe just an inch or hey 9-10 inches! That's called covering all your bases!
  19. Great snowstorm guys, sorry I was off the board all weekend! Bands in the late afternoon were the real deal, definitely 1-2 inches an hour for awhile. Shovelled a path to my grill at 5:30pm...had 2-3 inches of new snow there by 7:30. What a great way to start the season, and right near the solstice too so even with sun the melting at a real minimum
  20. Well verbatim the latest NAM has around 7 inches in RIC. Sharp cutoff with about 3 inches in Ashland and then nothing north of Hanover.
  21. Man I hope we can get something here too eagles2011. Last night's models were not comforting, but goodness knows we've watched areas to our north win in these kinds of setups time and time again! Would be nice to be the "northern" overachievers for once!
