  1. That's been the tension on this board forever. For as much as you say it's been a problem with this storm, Richmond and CVA folks have had to live with constant "I hope Richmond doesn't get anything" kind of posts and a board perspective that is always Beltway-MD centric when in reality it's the MA board and a large part of the population covered exists south of that area. It's all dumb because its just weather, but it does go both ways, and it does oftentimes make it tough for Va folks outside of the Beltway to really feel like this board covers us
  2. Just watching the models this feels very December 2009 to me. We will ride the line for sure, but, as of this moment, it looks like we could be on the "right" side of it, ironically yes the left side of the S/R split in the RVA metro area. I remember 2009 was a classic too close to call storm up until the very last moment. And when it was hammering snow in Richmond that Friday night it was raining in the Tri-Cities. Accumulation map shows an incredible cut off. My house in west end of Richmond got a foot. Folks in Hopewell got maybe 3-4 inches on backside. Feels like a similar deal unfolding, with perhaps a little more cushion. I'd take that in a heartbeat of course
  3. Good to see the Richmond thread picking back up, because goodness know we are the "no-mans land" between the heart of the MA forum (Beltway) and the Southeastern forum to our south! And Agree with eaglesin2011, if RIC sees 1/3 of that amount, so say 4-5 inches, that would be a massive win for early December.
  4. "We could be screaming about Richmond." I mean Richmond is part of this subforum...
  5. Interestingly enough the weather station at the Bald Head Island conservancy seems to indicate the island really got spared here. Highest wind gust so far is 62mph. About 5.7 inches of rain. The track of the storm, pushing right front quadrant way north, then coming inland at Wrightsville and jogging west before the eye got to Bald Head, may have saved the place a lot of damage. Hard to know for sure as no one is there right now, and will take a few days to get a good look but may be some good news for an area many thought might really get hit hard
  6. The idea that Richmond is crushing this season is ridiculous. We are at approximately 5 inches of snowfall from 2 systems. Yes from Prince George County down to the Beach this has been a great winter, but in metro Richmond that's just not accurate
  7. Had sleet in West End of the city a bit ago, now all giant snowflakes. Streets turning white
  8. West End of the City between half inch and inch already, and roads turning white. Reading the Wakefield discussion sounds like this could be a major overperformer as they are expecting 6 inches or so around the Richmond metro with potential for more if this evening's heavier band lingers. Nice start to the winter
