  1. Model FTXS12LVJU. Are you saying run it in auto mode? I've been running it on cool mode, medium fan speed. Remote temp setting is at 64, low as it will go. I found mine run best at the medium or high fan speed. I never use the auto fan setting. Try setting the fan to high and I would set the remote to 66-68. That works best for most wall units in cooling mode. If it's too noisy set it to Medium. At full output your unit is rated at 23 seer but when it's running at low speeds it is probably running at 40+ seer. A typical central air unit is 10-16 seer for comparison.
  2. Lots of windows with southwest exposure, but at this time of year the sun goes over the house. Only late in day do we get some sun through west side windows. Put it on yesterday at 3pm. Inside temp was 80f. By 9pm, room was only down to 76f. Left it on all night. Room temp is 71; same as outside. Meanwhile ouu master bed unit got temp down to 64f. I took the IR gun to both and they are both blowing out 58f air. Leave it on all day. These units are designed to run at low speeds nonstop and will ramp up the fans and compressor as needed. The efficiencies of them at low speed are incredible. Keep in mind if you are using the remote the temperature setting is based off the return air sensor on the top of the unit. You may need to set it much lower on the remote as the air 8-10 ft up is significantly warmer. What Fujitsu model did you get?
  3. It could be undersized but try leaving the unit on all day. Maybe turn it on early in the morning. If it was off and you turned it on in the afternoon during peak heat it probably won't be able to cool it quickly. The way they operate is they run nonstop but will run at a very low speed. On low speed my units will only use 150-200 watts. How much sun exposure do you have? That has a huge effect on your cooling load. I have a 12k unit in a similar size space that I just leave on and it has no issue keeping up.
  4. Thats right I think I read that here. I have been tempted to plant a Tulip Poplar. They can get insanely big. I don't think they grow north of the CT coastline. This one is around the corner from me and there are a few saplings in the ground nearby. It has to be 150+ years old.
  5. I have been using a bottle of Dominion 2l that cost like 25$. Depending on the tree size its really cheap to treat them. The other Ash tree was like 2500$ to cut down so it seems worth it. I read last year they genetically modified american chestnuts against the blight. I thought I read they were going to have them available soon. I am going to have the ash stump removed and plant another tree. Will have to look into doing a chestnut if they are available.
  6. I had 2 100+ year old green ash trees that I have been treating with a soil drench of insecticide against EAB for the last 5 years. One didn't make it and the canopy completely died so I had it cut down last fall and the other one trimmed. I counted the rings on the stump and it was over 100 years old. The arborist from the tree company said he has seen some older ash show some resistance to EAB. Every single Ash has been completely killed around here from the Emerald Ash Borer. Nice to see this one still hanging in there. It's such a cool looking tree. It was also cool to see the shoot from the old stump come up this spring.
  7. Another band about to roll through CT. I'm right on the sound in Branford. 36 and a nice squall just rolled through and coated everything. Impressive for this time of year.
  8. Even had snow showers here in Branford right on the water this afternoon. Had ice on the deck this morning and it looks like my hydrangeas and some other stuff got wiped out. Plants have been really early here this year.
  9. Even had snow showers here in Branford right on the water. Had ice on the deck last night and it looks like my hydrangeas and some other stuff got wiped out. Stuff has been blooming here crazy early this year.
  10. First mow of the season and Maple trees are leafing out here on the shoreline in Branford.

  13. I am in DC for a wedding tonight and have a jetblue flight back to Hartford from Reagan airport at 5 pm tomorrow. Thoughts on that flight happening? We were planning on taking a cab or uber to the airport. Looking forward to the storm though. Its been pretty much snowless back home in CT.
  14. This is done for central and western CT. People reporting on Facebook it's full sun in western ct.
  15. WTNH just downgraded a good chunk of CT to 0-3 inches. This is busting huge out this way.
  16. February 9th 2013 woke up to this in Wallingford, CT.....
  17. Just got a ton of reports from friends//family of some good sightings of the Orionid Meteors tonight along the CT shoreline. One of the year's best sky shows will peak this weekend between Oct. 20 and 22, when the Orionid meteor shower reaches its best viewing. The meteors that streak across the sky are some of the fastest and brightest among meteor showers, because the Earth is hitting a stream of particles almost head on. https://www.space.com/34373-orionid-meteor-shower-guide.html
  18. I lived in South Hero for a few years. The causeway is a good spot for viewing. Saw the lights a few times from there. Awesome wide open view looking north.
  19. Wallingford, CT Feb 8-9 2013 Noreaster/blizzard. A storm I will never forget.
