  1. I read an article last year about how bad road salt contamination is becoming. New Hampshire was mentioned as having some of the worst chloride contamination in the country and I remember reading the NH dot had to implement a reduced salt plan it was getting so bad. They tested lakes and wetlands and some of the increases in chloride contamination were through the roof and don't meet drinkng water standards. They specifically mentioned some area around 93 and some areas in NY in the Adirondacks had like 4 times the normal chloride levels. All that salt doesn't go away and just accumulates in the environment so once levels are up its not easy to bring them down.
  2. My house was making all kinds of crazy expansion noises last night. It went from 17 to 32 in less than 10 mins last night. HVN obs. 23.20 17.6 N 0 23:25 21.2 SW 6.9 23:30 32 S 8
  3. Sounds like the governor is stuck. Spray all the linkages and springs on top of the carb and make sure they all move freely.
  4. Looks like the highest totals in CT are going to be around Colchester/Windham.
  5. The radar looks incredible to the south. I'll be at a foot here in Branford within the hour. This band has not moved at all.
  6. I'm on the shore in Branford and just measured almost 9 inches and it's still ripping. That area to my NE around Colchester where I think JC CT is located is going to have some big totals. That band is still right over them.
  7. Roads are going to be a disaster tomorrow. I'm sure other states besides CT are having the same issue. Prolonged CT storm could pose ‘huge problem’ for shorthanded DOT, official says. According to Eucalitto, there are 265 absences from the highway operations division, responsible for snow cleanup, along with 193 unfilled positions. The absences, Eucalitto said, are DOT employees who have tested positive and are quarantining, or are waiting for a test in order to work. https://www.ctinsider.com/news/article/Prolonged-CT-storm-could-pose-huge-problem-16752659.php
  8. Yeah. I don't think people understand how stretched thin some industries are right now. My friend is a paramedic and has been working 16+ hours shifts as they have like no staff. Police and fire departments are experiencing huge issues as well.
  9. I heard there is a massive shortage of DOT/town workers because they are out with covid. Our town had to delay garbage pickup for 2 days as almost the entire department was out with covid.
  10. Looks like some really bad icing going on in SW CT. Roads are a disaster and 84 and the Merritt parkway are closed in sections.
  11. FREDRICKSBURG, Va. -- Drivers have been stuck in their vehicles on I-95 in Fredericksburg for over 10 hours due to traffic problems caused by winter weather on Monday — some even having to spend the night in their cars. Around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) said the backup was caused by a combination of downed trees and disabled vehicles. As of 5:30 a.m. on Tuesday, vehicles are still at a standstill in a 50-mile stretch of the interstate.
  12. Take a look at the Google maps traffic down there. So many roads/highways are completely closed down.
  13. Seems there has been a lot of meteor explosions lately. Wasn't their one recently in NNE?
  14. So finally a killing frost here on the shore?
  15. You should have come down to the shoreline to see all the impressive colorful flowers blooming..
  16. What until everyone gets their new electric bills next month. Electric rates are going way up for just about everyone in New England starting tomorrow. I saw Unitil in New Hampshire is raising rates 60%. I believe Eversource in Mass is going up 32%. CT bills are going up 21% and this price is locked in until the Jun adjustment. The electric bills of Eversource residential customers will see average standard offer service supply charges increase by $31 per month, or 21 percent, starting in January, according to Mitch Gross, an Eversource spokesperson. Gross said the figure is based on a customer who uses 700 kilowatts per month. I have been on Solar for over 5 years. My panels have reached their ROI. Anyone with good sun exposure in New England should do it with our rates. All the states have crazy incentives that make the payback period 5-7 years.
  17. Still mowing every week here. Lawn looks incredible with all the recent rain and warmth.
  18. The damage to that Amazon warehouse is incredible. Just the roof posts left. I did see a tweet from a picture from someone inside and it looked like they had tornado shelters in the warehouse. Hopefully a lot of people made it in them.
