I'm actually in Marlboro Mass for work for this one, should be better than home, i wouldn't be surprised if there was a few double digit totals in the Middlesex cty worchester cty hills here... I'd expect 3-6 imby, gotta teach the ol lady again how to measure..

depends where the 700 mb center or equivalent center goes. if the axis of it stays south of the Pike it's not likely to warm tongue much farther N of there...
I might be a little concerned with flashing where it snows --> rain then ends as partial clearing in the evening Friday night.
Looks like it will be right over the coast imho, not a good position for good lift, 100nm South, I'd be happier

Nice at least yours stuck, mine went from grap to flakes to melt in minutes... looking forward to hopefully a fulfilling season
-
See I ain't the only one who had first flakes tonight!!! Congrats, welcome winter season, I've missed you so much!!
-
Yeah just saw that... just started pouring as I write...got a good 3" yesterday, so ground can't take much more, nothing like down the coast yesterday tho, damn!!
-
Phone is blowing up with alerts now... was the rotation radar indicated or someone report it?
-
Serious lightening show going on right now, winds really picked up too... btw, so glad the site is back!! Didn't know what I was going to do this winter..

This is why I have an official board, for the official measurements...and I have a personal one, that I clear half of every hour or so, and leave the other side alone for the entire event... strictly for my personal data analysis, but the board is what I report... I have been back and forth with people who argue with me about how much actually feel, because they are measuring from a driveway or heated car hood, but fail to grasp the nws board cleaning process.. btw, the difference in all the measurements are sometimes substantial, sometime not, ratio dependant

Snow to beat the band here right now...holy cow, too bad the sun is still up..

I'm wondering how some of those really low totals in the valley were measured. I know they got less snow but I had a wide variety of measurements whether I measured on pavement, cement, grass, car, picnic table, truck bed or on my snowboard. My "official" spot is my snow board and that's what goes in the record but I also got much lower readings on any of the ground measurements so I'm wondering if some of those measurements reflect measurements on the ground as opposed to a board?
Nice light snow now...hopefully add some more overnight.
Yeah, arguing with multiple people on Facebook about how much snow fell as opposed to what was on whatever surface they measure on... they just couldn't comprehend how the snowboard measurement I use for the NWS report and mine, but they still argue about it...btw, nearly an inch new since 1700hrs, pure pixy dust now though...

We have been light here all day. Have not actually measured but would be surprised if we broke 4 inches. The tops of the casters on gas grill are still visible. Happy for all who scored big. I grew up in Norfolk so jack potting was almost always guaranteed.
We got 10.5 here... it's now 11 as eyeballing a half inch new on the board, since the sun went down it's starting accumulation on pavement again... sucks you guys got caught in snow hole today, this time of year nickle and diming just sucks... it's big or GTFO..

Ironically - the best snow of the entire event over the last hour or so.
Yeah I'm surprised at how the rates are now, was expecting light snow, it under a mile...1/2" new ... jealous of the totals out east... congrats guys, pics are awesome!!

Sun is trying to make it through now...wow two hours ago i was ripping 2"/hr, now it's like a nice spring day..10.5" official report.
-
Well unless we reenergize this band, I believe this is over here... visibility has come up in the last half hour, just about 10" down, will do an official in a couple hours, but from what has fallen since I cleared, it's double digit snow... just about what I had last storm, so, two feet of snow before St Patrick's day... not bad March we got here..
-
Just when it looks like the band is winding down it seems to pick back up again... mid-level magic ftw!
-
10"... still pouring... snow growth has wavered back and forth between great and good, vis still below 1/4sm
-
Approaching 10"... the western band seems to widen almost sucking the east band west, can see a mega band setting up in CCT/MA...how much of a stall are we looking at, haven't seen much east or northwrd movement on the low in a few frames

HRRR is a nowcasting model.
About the only thing it's good for

It's almost like the western band consumed the east band and blossomed the radar again...

I've tried everything to post pics, sending to myself and resizing, but it's still too large... any suggestions?

Also consider the DPs are extremely low, so we'd have to rock aloft to get it done
