it's now snowing here, my street ranges from 865' at the bottom to over 1k' up the road, I literally saw it snowing up there and watched it move down
-
had a feeling when it was 33/33 last night this was gonna be a big bust, IP/RN right at 32 now... and point and click has me getting 8, HA!

As good as any I've seen... bust potential is big across the higher elevations of Litchfield CTY, western Hartford Cty, and northern Tolland & Windam counites... almost no way to show the possible variations across the northern half of CT on any map. I'm right on the Litchfield Cty border sitting at about 1,140' but a few miles away it 200 to 300' of elevation...????
yeah, tough call just south of the pike region even in higher elevation I think

It’s almost like weather forecasting is difficult.

what's that like 1.5- 2"/hr rates for a few hours, if the thermals cooperate, otherwise we waste the thump on white rain or plain rain

12z NAM trying for isothermal paste bomb for several hours on the WAA thump well down into CT. That’s gonna be interesting to watch. The soundings are legit isothermal right near 0C.
hoping that verifies

Very difficult forecast for the hills south of I90. If the colder trends are real then you can take em up . But I don’t have a strong feeling either way . Before 12z.. I still think 3-6” for this area . I guess it all depends on the first thump tomorrow and if that’s real
I'm with you here, I think we struggle to hit 4 in this area, unless the cold cools more for the thump because we ain't seeing any CCB snows back here so we rely on thump and maybe some crumbs on the backside, going 3-5 here
-
precip better on the NAM but still marginal temps, hope the cold flows down quick or we'll waste the thump on ptype issues, antecedent airmass is meh, but gotta say it's better than was modeled, was supposed to be in the upper 40low 50s today, never got above 35 here today, was 43 at BDL earlier at work though

I doubt you could find anything in the '80s that would compare to the rain snow ratio we're now experiencing.
idk, maybe 84/85 has to be close from my foggy memory, but mid 80s winters were brutal after 83, with lots of rain I remember one pouring on Christmas or Thanksgiving, again... foggy memory, but it was a holiday

feels like mby is riding the edge for some warning snows, just up the hill in Norfolk I'd bet they verify, storms like these they easily get at least a couple more than me here, WSW up for Berks, I'm 6mi as the crow flies from that, thinking 4-6, maybe more if we cold layers, maybe less if we don't,ALY has 4-6 here, solid I'll take it.

1" of Currier and Ives out there, nice little refresher, wish it would last tho.
-
we coat... intensity picked up a bit last hour, down to 30 now... amazing the plows just went by, but last week there was like 4" on the road and nothing for hours... they cancelled my boys basketball practice for 6, when it really doing nothing
-
coming down at a decent clip now, started as SN, flipped to IP/RN now solid SN with nice dendies
- 1
-
actually snowing pretty good last hour, accumulating about I'd say near a half inch since about 3 when it started snizzlin, now decent dendrites falling with ripping winds, deep 3" drifts
-
very nice deep winter feel last couple days, snow in the air gusty artic hound winds, feels very much like mid January!

somehow managed 1" of pixie today with a few short bursts of decent snow growth, and despite radar still wringing out the low lvl moisture, combined with the 3.5 the other day I'm at 19" on the season, half of last year about.
-
@Sey-Mour Snow 3.5" of SN, IP, and a little ZR for your records...

back to ripping snow here, just as my dad got done cleaning it...was right at 3" before the flip, I'd say another .25" in the last half hour, looks like back edge approaches tho. roads were a mess leaving work to come home around 1, pouring rain at 24F is not a good time on the hills, plus a truck was going 5mph up 219, took an hour and a half to get home from basically BDL

flipped at BDL within the last half hour, still snow at home in Winsted, had just over 2 there when I left at 11
-
-
meh...bout an inch, snow growth has been paltry at least since 430, vis is about a mile, looks like the best good are going north into the berks points N and E awt
-
appears 84S & E taint on the NAM, maybe someone just North of that rips for a bit... Berks up through SNH into southern Maine getting hammered 8+, 3-6 down to 84 and 1-3 to the coast I'd say now.

Squalling to beat the band in Westfield
that's the one that was supposed to bang on here, but 5 minutes of grap was it..
-
meh on the squalls but winds have sent the hens into the coop.. it's literally pounding squalls all around my area it seems, I need something to come up from SW instead of W, because by the time they get here they break up or shift NE
Monitoring the 29th/30th for significant impact coastal redevelopment - confidence only medium for now but is trending favorably.

was pouring paws for a grip, now still big but steadier smaller dendies, this should accumulate quickly as it was already coated up, near grass cancel again
