That’s some Dec 2003… 18”+ in BTV and Weymouth.  Just everyone seems to win.

I think this was the one when the Pats played and the stands were full of snow and they were throwing snow up to the sound of the music.

Yes, For most its rare air for siggy outside of higher elevations in CNE/NNE, I would be surprised as well, If some don't see at least first flakes maybe better in areas that are less prone, Pattern looks ripe for some snow in the region, There's good reason some avg's are below 3" overall, Chance's increase for late Nov though, That's where decent snows could sneak in as we get closer to Thanksgiving, I've hunted in the foothills in fresh powder a few years of 6-12" before.

When I was a kid I always though Dec 5 was the realistic start of snow season, where I live anyway, you're earlier than me.

I'm guessing my neighbor is not liking her yard this morning that faces NW in back of my oaks, I see all my leaves up against her fence and my lawn does not have even one on it with winds gusting frequently from the NW in the 40 mph range overnight.

Over half my leaves are from my neighbors' trees, they're right against the stone wall, I keep my yard clear right up to the wall, they don't.

There are two answers that apply to this.

1    Yes  ...how?  it's mathematically proven that warm air holds more water vapor.   As the planetary atmosphere has warmed over the last 30 years, vapor content has been measured to be more.  That's proving the math prediction.  But that is interesting in the vicinity of mechanisms that cause precipitation.  Snow and rain results get heavier.  And that is true in winter too - one has to understand, that winter storm snowfall is happening because there is an injection from a warm/humid source.  If that source has more water, it will snow more. Viola! bigger winters/ storms.

2    climate change is not happening along a linear trajectory.  What that means is... it's been accelerating. Crude model: if you have 2 heat waves during year one, you'll get 4 during year five ... 8 during year 10.   That's just an example, mind you, of the acceleration.   In real life, it is what ever it is, but it is not linear.  That acceleration, makes it bad for a lot of obvious reasons.  1970s do not apply, because it's apples and oranges due to the being prior to a lot of the curved upward trajectory.

When I hear deniers... try to supply that narrative, it irks me that it doesn't come off as skepticism. It sounds tactically divisive because the word choice and turn of phrase is clearly avoidance. That masquerades as skepticism.

The current paradigm of humanity is doomed.  What ever emerges on the other side will be enlightened and better off, or stopped existing.

Tip, you should do a fiction book on climate change with the end being humans being wiped and out and whatever comes out the other end, your imagination is better than mine.

I’ve been told to test once a month for the next 3 months and see what the levels look like.

A guy I work with did the 3 month sample and all 3 were in the neighborhood of 3.5-4, so he decided to put in a mitigation system.

Im kind of just learning about it, but it’s pretty crazy how many houses probably have action level radon and how few people test for it/ have systems.

I was reading that upwards of 35% of homes could use radon mitigation and far less than 1% of those actually have it.

Its going to vary, being higher once cold weather hits so thats the best way to do it and see what you get and take it from there, you might just have tested at a high level time but maybe it was a low level time, doing it over a length of time will give you a better idea. Most sales I see in my area require a radon test by the lender before they close.

Need to go out west.  Utah going to get rocked with another big cycle.

Alta, Utah Collins Station has picked up 10” in the past 8 hours on ~0.9” water and the storm just started.  29” on the ground.

Look at the y-axis on this model run for Alta, ha. I thought it was cm but no, it’s inches.

That must have been what I saw on the news, was at the bowling alley so couldnt hear.

You can purchase a radon detector on amazon. The radon detector will allow you to track the level hour by hour.  That will allow you to determine how accurate the reading of 2.9 is. As of right now you do not know if that is a low or high reading for that area of your home.

A reading of 2.9 suggests that some mitigation action is required but that is just 1 reading.

Yeah he's borderline, 4 and above is time to fix it, 2.9 is a personal choice but I'd take care of it.

  8. We just fill a bowl up and put it on the porch, they can take the whole bowl for all I care. When we kids one of my friends did that when we came to a house with a bowl full of candy bars, back in the late 60's early 70s candy bars were big. He dumped the whole bowl in his bag.

Sounds like I need one. I did a lot of raking today. Pushed my back to the limit :yikes:

Raking's for suckers, there's much easier ways to do it, not sure what the Iceberg's sweeper is though, my neighbor had a sweeper when I was a kid and you couldn't get 20 feet without it getting full.

So what does it take to finish off the yellow jackets for the season? Mid 20s?  Lower 20’s?

We have already had multiple mornings  below freezing here and several in the upper 20s yet they’re still going.  :fulltilt:

You know where the nest is?

Anyone ever Radon test their home?

We got results and it’s 2.9

That's not too high but if you're worried look into radon remediation, a lot of new homes put them in no matter what since they're cheap at the time of construction. Not sure of the cost in an existing home.

When Jacobi is your leading WR, that’s not going to cut it. This isn’t 2005. It’s a passing league now. You need a stud X receiver. Even the Jets after years of agony finally understood you need to make plays down the field and drafted accordingly…and surround that talent with offensive minded coaches. Look at the Eagles, they drafted Smith but traded for AJ…now Hurts looks like an all pro passer suddenly.

They have Devante and Myers is no slouch, they need to win on defense and running, which might not cut it in todays NFL, I can see them winning 8-9 games this year.

I'm not a bit water person but if the water is that warm I may love it. But I'm afraid of getting eaten by sharks so I might only go like ankle deep

What part you going to? There's T-storms every day down there, I've seen a few good ones when I went down.

It looks quite mild into mid-month, for sure.  Going to be a slow start to the ski season but plenty of time before Thanksgiving for things to change by the second half of the month being 2+ weeks away.  It won't happen fast but hopefully after two weeks we can see distinct signs of an upcoming change.

Kevins do the reverse psychology thing again, sometimes it works.
