  1. https://x.com/brady_wx/status/2011850116487893414?s=46&t=LVg8BRWCh1zZb6F_t95EVg .
  2. I’m not familiar with these two mods but…. .
  3. Mods sometimes have trouble with under doing the precipitation shield on the NW side. Not saying we are still in the game but I’m struggling to find some outs. .
  4. With the temp issues in ETn but not so much in west or east of here, makes me think the mods are about to sniff out a handoff or energy transfer. Seems like when we get odd looking thermals up the valley, it’s a precursor to a low popping off the coast of SC. .
  5. There’s a low pressure over the Great Lakes that suppressing our moisture. These seem to be there every time we get in a ok pattern .
  6. Other than mountain NW flow, I don’t believe anyone east of Asheville has seen a decent snow in five or six years .
  7. At least we know there’s likely going to be a storm south and or east of us. That’s about all you can ask for in the middle of January and whatever happens, happens. .
  8. We need another big jog to the west because sometimes these systems will calibrate their self back east in the 11th hour .
  9. It seems like every year now right around MLK day we are dealing with snow .
  10. It did…. Except when you don’t want it to. .
  11. HRRR is at its max range but it definitely threw a bone to everyone east of 75. .
  12. That’s the one i thought you were talking about. Doesn’t the Euro have that same look but kicks it across the GOM? .
  13. In Knox Co… I know this is Captain obvious but it’s a must to live at or north of a line from Powell to Halls to Gibbs to get snow that the majority of Knox Co won’t see. The temp difference between Ft City to Halls is very unique. In a couple of mile span, it is normal for Halls to be 5-8 degrees colder than Ft City. Hard to explain. .
  14. And we are staying in Wears Valley this weekend .
  15. Two weeks before the 93’ blizzard, an F3 tracked through Oak Ridge, Powell, to Halls. Strongest tornado on record for Knox Co. .
  16. Y’all know Mike Witcher right? (Assuming he’s not on here lol) I’m in a little discord group with him and some other weather folks. So I’ll be able to bring his thoughts here on the bigger events. The group is a little more severe weather but there’s some snow talk. .
  17. Nice snow shower in progress here .
  18. Trying to keep up. My mom isn’t doing well and I haven’t been able to consistently mod watch but it looks like we finally have something to track. .
  19. @John1122 i don’t remember the end of Jan snow storm though .
  20. I remember that Ice storm in 82. What I remember about it is me and my dad had to go get my grandmother at her work, which was downtown at the city County building. I remember sitting on the overpass where 275 goes east on 40 and we sat there for what seemed like forever. However, we got my GM, got her home and we got home safe. Maybe the weather conditions got worse after we got home but at that time, only bridges and overpasses were iced up. .
  21. Holy smokes…. Lake effect snow like this is on my weather bucket list but I’m reconsidering lol… .
