This was in this mornings write up from Gray. There is still hope for some of you massacists. A trough begins digging into the Mid-Atlantic Sunday sparking cyclogenesis off the coast of the Carolinas. Meanwhile, high pressure builds over the northeast making for a mostly dry day with seasonable high temperatures. The aforementioned low begins moving northeast up the coast with many ensemble solutions suggesting high pressure keeps it mostly at sea. However, there are some notable recent trends in the ensemble guidance. The wave of interest that ultimately kick starts this is just coming into range of the RAOB network and really doesn`t enter the Pacific Northwest until later today. That being said with what limited recon data the models have been able to incorporate, they have trended the ridge in the western CONUS more westerly. This would ultimately allow the low to end up closer to the coast and result in a greater chance for a more impactful snowfall for the Northeast. While the majority of ensemble members are clustered well to the south and east of the benchmark, there are still more than a few members nearby. It would be unwise to write this one off just yet until it can be sampled further.

Just took a walk around the yard to throw some raw peanuts at the squirrels. Its been a rough year for them. I had no acorns in my yard this year and I have 50 year old monster oak in my front yard. Feed them at work as well. Below is fat Eddie just after our mini melt in January. He bangs on my glass now and then. It was actually pretty nice out. 12 to 14 inches of snow pack still and we topped out at 39.

I told my wife that the Daytona 500 is this weekend and she said who cares (I don't watch a lot of nascar). It always meant the start of a march to spring. I leave work in the day light, tree wells get larger, snow does not last long on the roads and we can all start to worry/worship the sun angle... It was cloudy most of the day. 36 for a high. now 32.

Snow begets snow.. still snowing. I did not see this at all. 1/2" now.

29 F here. It started lightly snowing around 5:40. We have a solid 1" to 1.5". I took my dog out for last call and I know its not as dry as the last storm since a lot of it stuck to my dog like dingle berries after a beer and pizza party.

We had a March in the early 2000 ots that had the coldest temps of the season. I lived in the Wolfeboro area at the time, and it was a week of cold. Wish I had the exact dates.

Better roll out the hose for the back up sump pump. Its a price worth paying for a step closer to spring. Yesterday was pictured below. Now I wait at RSW for the cold plunge back into NH.

It's been said before, but I will say it again. Eff.. the cold. With no January thaw this has been brutal. A break every once in a while would be nice. 38 here to day was nice but everything was so frozen solid, Ice dams were like, "meh" , side walk out of work at 5:30 was like "let me take your knee" I have underground freezing on my side...My wife who is "never Florida" finally cracked this weekend. It's in play for a get away. Going to see my parents in Estero this weekend. 60's will feel good.

Goose egg here this morning. 24 for a high. There are power outages in Florida. Fortunately my parents have not lost it but many neighbors have. I asked why and they said power grid is "stressed".

Does this cold pattern bleed into spring and summer? We have had a number of hot summers in the past 10 years. Wondering if the mini split gets a rest this year.

Same here. It does not end. We get a few days here and there of 32 plus. Mid Feb a short break but it looks like another cold shot coming right in after that.

It only went down to 3 F. They were calling for -4.

That would track with the cold temperatures.

Just filled my tank 2 weeks ago. I have wood and pellet options in my house. Looks like I filled the tank at the right time. Emptying an oil tank is not good. Need to change the filter and have someone bleed the line to the boiler/furnace.
