  1. Rt 218 is a challenge to keep open due to its route on the side of Storm King Mountain. A man was killed in an avalanche along 218 during the blizzard in March '93. Shortly after that NYSDOT put up permanent gates on each side of the mountain section to close the road during heavy rain and snow events. Falling rocks/boulders are a somewhat regular occurrence as well. Its a great drive, and a commuter route for folks who work at West Point, they'll likely be closed for months.
  2. I just checked Google earth and see there’s a dam there but not sure where the gauge is. I’ve seen it down here with a gauge on the Wallkill that will do that due to dams upstream. It’s just odd that the forecast had it dropping so I was wondering if the gauge was having issues too but I’m not familiar with this one.

  8. I measured out my stratus as I didn’t want it to overflow, it was within a tenth of the Davis this time. I still had room but this rain won’t stop.
  9. It IS a disaster there right now. Many reports of people trapped.
  10. There’s a small stream under my driveway which has become a creek over top instead.

  12. I was just looking at the traffic maps around here and they look like winter. Up to 3.57”
  13. Any idea how big a rockslide on the Palisades Parkway?
  14. 11.90” here over that time. 10.72” since 6/23 3.30” today and pouring.
  15. The heaviest has moved to my NW now, rain rate down to .28 at the moment, 1.68” on the day so far.
  16. Up to 1.35” and counting, Flash Flood Warning issued.
  17. And another. Business picked up quickly out here with pouring rain and booming thunder.
  18. Mark me up on the big board with .10 from the first shower of the day, the sun out now before the next round.
