Wow. Mine stopped taking water around 12/25 or so, then it really starts to dry out. I worry about it being a fire hazard so it's the first thing to go on the 1st of Jan, then the rest of the lights/decorations.

sometimes a threat pops up in the day 3-5 time frame-especially if a vort comes out of Canada from a data sparse region.

If we get one cold month I like it being Jan. Heart of winter, coldest climo, low sun angle. Maximum snow retention!

most went for a cold Dec and a warm Jan. Bust. So who knows what Feb will bring...

I kill it on 12/26. Can't wait to take down the dead wreaths and tree every year but we hold off til 1/1 for that.

But it was also too windy Wednesday morning for crews to try to pre-treat the roads with hard salt, the DOT said. “It was kind of this Goldilocks zone of ineffective options to pre-treat our roadways,” said Garrett Eucalitto, a deputy commissioner at DOT. - the liquid part I get-it would likely freeze up the nozzles on the machines-but too windy for rock salt? LOL

complete debacle in my area-no salt on roads, pileups just a disaster all around.

That would explain it at least on state roads. Not sure why there were no local crews out putting down salt/mag chloride

What a debacle. No salt anywhere. They called a late school delay here at 6:45 then closed at 8:30. Roads a disaster with numerous accidents. Gov't at its finest. Usually they over salt here for marginal/rain events but then they go the other way this time lol. To be fair there was no WWA for the immediate coast last night.

I'd wait til tomorrow's 12z before tossing in any towels

it's very similar to those bad years of 01-02 and 11-12 just a bit cooler. Nov of both of those years was very warm, this year it was slightly cooler than ave. The precip pattern is very similar-bone dry with no storms anywhere near us.

central/northern NE cashing in on some snow next 7-10 days. Hopefully that gradient will drift south a bit especially heading into the coldest climo of the year....
