Thing if Canada is cold, which is more likely an a La Nina, then you can get lucky due to the shape/orientation of the PV...a year like 2007-2008 should have sucked on paper. But tough to predict something like that....

I'd take my chances on a cold Canada.  This year Canada was mainly torched so despite having a couple good storm tracks we had crappy airmasses so it was mostly rain.

That said, I would be suprised if next season is good...I could see somehow avoiding a ratter with a bit of luck, which we are "due" for.

If we get a SE ridge on roids forget it....probably will depend on Atlantic SST's there

New York City second week of March.

Beyond that it’s spring snow when you’re lucky. wet slop

Until then you can have a wintery feel

this year we didn’t even have a winter feel side for a week or two in the middle of February and January.

I don’t know what these people are talking about winter in March. Ridiculous.

It has felt more like April or even May the last 2.5 weeks

Very active and much colder 2nd half of March likely. MJO swinging to colder phases.

Not really that cold- -5 in late March is 45-50.   It will feel like an ice age after the last few weeks though!

As it's 70 plus degrees today

This marks what was supposed to be the end of the "great pattern"   It was literally the opposite of what long term modeling showed...

I'm officially throwing in the towel for winter. I put my shovels away today.

Long range looks terrible for cold and snow.

I will soon be counting down the days  to winter.

we all realized that in mid Feb...

Forecasted highs this weekend are 58-59.

I expect 63-65 degrees for both days.

Especially tomorrow with sun.  Sunday is iffy especially if there's any showers around.

Or watch the satellite loop & the mostly cloudy forecast was a bust resulting in the higher temps.

Yep we had sun for a good chunk of today it has just clouded over but up to 71

Sun most of the morning, skyrocketed to 65⁰. Looks like clouds are rolling back in now.

Still mostly sunny here up to 65 another day of forecasts being too low with high temps

The irony is that the airmass that is modeled is colder than anything I can recall that tried to show a wintry evolution in January or February. That is LOL-tastic. Right or not...I had to laugh.

Classic ratter winter-the cold pattern shows up late March/early April...

People give me looks when I say this, but spring blow. Between mosquitoes, bipolar weather, and mud, I’ll wait for summer. Two favorites are winter and summer followed closely by fall. Spring can go F itself.

Definitely not the nicest month here with the often onshore flow/drizzle/mist.    Some years we get lucky like last year where it was often sunny and dry

Long range guidance starting to look very warm with a big SE ridge.

    Let’s hope they’re correct.

    B)

Definitely some chill next week but given the seasonal trend a big torch on the other end as every cool/cold period broke into a long torch

12z gfs has a week of temps around 40, then right back to Morch last week of March.

Should be lots of arguing and fighting over Morch 2012 if the last week is an inferno.
