  1. I didn't realize Ontarios water temps were in the 40s. Doesn't take much cold air to get the delta ts needed to generate lift.

  4. New warning ...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 PM EST FRIDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 12 to 20 inches are expected. * WHERE...Southern Erie and Wyoming counties and the western Southern Tier. * WHEN...Until 1 PM EST Friday.

  6. Last few frames show the 2" per hour rates. East Aurora/Hamburg/Blasdell
  7. I'm going to the waterfront around 11-12 to take some videos. Should be peak snow rates/winds at that time.

  9. SPC discussion Areas affected...Portions of northeast OH...northwest PA...and western NY Concerning...Heavy snow Valid 020143Z - 020745Z SUMMARY...Moderate/heavy is expected overnight. Snowfall rates of 1+ inch per hour are expected, with localized rates in excess of 2 inches in the most intense snow bands. DISCUSSION...Latest surface analysis shows a surface low progressing eastward/northeastward near Pittsburgh, PA. Meanwhile, satellite imagery indicates northern/southern stream phasing currently underway over Ohio, with mid-level trough becoming negatively tilted over the area. As this occurs, strong deep layer ascent associated with intense frontogenetical forcing and a coupled upper-level jet structure is expected to promote strong lift through a saturated dendritic growth layer. Snowfall rates of 1+ inch per hour will be common across the MCD area, with localized rates in excess of 2 inches per hour in the strongest bands. Snowfall rates are expected to decrease in intensity late tonight as the surface low progresses east of the area and deep layer ascent diminishes. While rain is currently being observed across southern portions of the MCD area, strong low-level cold air advection and dynamic cooling is expected to increase tonight as the center of the surface low progresses just south of the area. This will lead to a rapid transition from rain to moderate/heavy snowfall near 0600Z.
  10. So this is the type of stuff New England gets in those Nor'Easters. I need to experience one of them.
  11. This event is a rarity, probably one in 5-6 year event, possibly longer. We don't do well at all for synoptic.
  12. Heaviest snow will start now until around 6 am. Banding should begin shortly too.
  13. Yeah, I'm not sleeping tonight. This has all time synoptic potential for me.
  14. NAM dumps on southern erie county. 2" of QPF in Boston/Colden Hills

  16. Most of WNY and Central NY will get 6-12" of wet snow. Highest totals in Hills south of Buffalo and Catskills with upwards of 2'. That pivot point is a thing of beauty, then we get the trowel tomorrow morning!
  17. I've downloaded two adblockers and still get ads. It's brutal, no other website is like this one.

  19. I think Puerto Rico was the hardest hit location of anyone this year in the tropics. Looks like things are absolutely terrible down there right now. http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/353163-san-juan-mayor-i-am-begging-begging-anyone-who-can-hear-us-to
  20. 2024 totality is dead center across Metro Buffalo but feel like it would be so much better to see at the top of a mountain, but that time of year is tough in the Adirondacks. It's also a really cloudy month as well, so will be interesting to see if it would even be visible.
  21. Top of Mount Marcy in the Adirondacks would be legendary in 2024.
  22. Omg 2024 it goes directly over WNY!!! I was thinking about driving to the one in August, but I can be patient.
  23. Are we talking a big time outbreak? or run of the mill type spring central plain stuff? Either way can't wait to finally have some severe action!
