  1. Thank you for proving my point wolf. Luke must be living in a nice little cushy bubble. Us lowly folk are struggling.
  2. lol... I've seen a regional manager come in and clean house for no reason and I was a victim of that cleaning. I've also seen an employee fired for swearing a few times. I guess every individual situation is different and many times there is collateral damage.
  3. Workers rights have also plummeted throughout the last few decades. Unions dominated the marketplace where workers had some negotiation ability and someone standing up for their working rights. Now you can be fired for anything, and trust me I've seen people fired with no warnings for the most trivial things I've ever seen. You know in most countries in Europe you cannot fire someone without probable cause? We have A LOT of catching up to do. People on here make fun of Germany yet they destroyed us in this COVID outbreak. https://www.businessinsider.com/what-getting-fired-looks-like-in-different-countries-2019-7#in-the-uk-employers-can-only-fire-workers-if-there-is-a-good-reason-to-do-so-and-they-tend-to-fire-older-employees-first-1
  4. The stats don't lie. The income disparity in this country is growing by the year. Trickle down economics is a fallacy. https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2018/08/07/for-most-us-workers-real-wages-have-barely-budged-for-decades/ https://www.advisorperspectives.com/dshort/updates/2019/11/26/u-s-household-incomes-a-50-year-perspective The 1% exponential growth https://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-economy-expansion-contrasts/rich-get-richer-everyone-else-not-so-much-in-record-u-s-expansion-idUSKCN1TX0HE
  5. You missed it earlier. It was one of the best press conferences ever. If you are that concerned about your media image where you have to sabotage a covid presser to show people via video all the praises from various politicians, something is wrong there. However, I actually agree with him on most of his decisions. You don't shut down the country with zero cases and zero deaths. You don't know how it's going to play out. This reporter is asking why didn't you act sooner to lower the number of American deaths and then follows it by 10s of millions are unemployed...What kind of question is that?
  6. Anyone watching this? He just showed Fauci on Jan 27th on video. The smirk on his face, I feel like I'm watching a reality TV show.
  7. I have a direct job in the facilitation of the PPP loans. It's a complete and utter disaster.
  8. Trump just called him Sleepy Joe Biden. LOL I cannot wait for these debates. Trump is going to have a field day with him.
  9. Dr. Fauci just did clean up about his statements yesterday.
  10. The rich want us to go back to work quick to make them the big bucks! @Luke_Mages What do you think about this article? Trickle down economics just doesn't do it for me. https://www.epi.org/productivity-pay-gap/ Proof of my point earlier today, "Back in the 60s-90s people that worked at Ford, GM, big airlines, etc... had pensions, great benefits, great retirement. Workers rights are slowly being taken away for corporate profits and executive compensation."
  11. I am a registered independent as well. The 2 party system is inherently flawed but it's all we've got. We need to get rid of the 2 party system, super pacs, and the electoral college. Only then will you have a true democracy in which every vote is 100% equal across the entire country.
  12. Cuomo announces multi-state group will develop 'reopening' plan https://www.marketwatch.com/story/cuomo-announces-multi-state-group-will-develop-reopening-plan-2020-04-13?mod=home-page
  13. What about those already retired from there that receive pensions, or those about to retire? Are they screwed?
  14. I'm sure we will transition to something like Iceland has. Social gatherings of 20 or more people would still include restaurants, gyms, sporting events, etc... Those will probably be the last places to open up. https://www.marketwatch.com/story/iceland-finds-that-half-its-citizens-with-coronavirus-have-shown-no-symptoms-2020-04-10
  15. Would love to be a firefighter. It sucks that you have to live in the city. =(
  16. Cases and deaths down in Italy, Spain, UK, France. They are definitely turning the corner and be back to normal sometime in May. I think June 1st is a good date for New York State.
  17. I have 4-5 friends who are troopers, quite a few cop friends and dozens of CO friends. The jobs are risky and suck quite often. I almost went the route of a county cop and took the test but got promoted within my company so backed out of it. I still wonder if I should go that route. COs jobs are really tough, but I have one who works 90 days a year because he swaps shifts all the time. That is a pretty cool benefit. Even though you make similar salaries. You'll never come close to the time off, benefits, and pension they get. Your friend will be retired in 5-10 years making 100k a year in a pension/deferred comp with full benefits.
  18. You should see these pensions man. I calculated it many times before. As both of us work in private industrys I'm assuming we would have to save in our 401k 1.4-1.7+ million to get what these officers get in their pensions by the time we retire to match what they get. It's unrealistic. 60-100k a year in the form of a pension for life is just insanity. Some of these guys are retiring in their early 40s. They collect this for 30-50 years...It's INSANE
  19. There are more applicants to the jobs I posted then any other job in New York State and for good reason. As someone who deals with retirement, the above positions have a better retirement then 99% of New York State private employees do.
  20. Why don't we privatize state troopers, corrections, police officers, fireman,etc...The amount of people I see applying for these jobs is unreal. Thousands upon thousands of people want these jobs and sit for the tests. You know why? Socialism isn't all that bad. They retire in 20-25 years, full benefits for life, 60-100k+ salaries, 70% of salary in the form of a pension for LIFE, flexible schedules, and unions that back them. That's what the people want. But then the people get these jobs are all republican and anti democrats. Hypocrites much? lol Back in the 60s-90s people that worked at Ford, GM, big airlines, etc... had pensions, great benefits, great retirement. Workers rights are slowly being taken away for corporate profits and executive compensation.
  21. There is a lot he could have said differently. He is anti science, that's a major problem. He's more worried about 30k coal jobs, then 650k postal workers jobs. He states that somehow mail in voting would be the "end" of the Republican party. https://news.yahoo.com/coronavirus-fauci-says-us-could-184722587.html Have you heard anything about the post office? @WesterlyWx https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-rejects-bailout-that-included-aid-to-usps-report-says-2020-4
