  1. Seems like the brazilian variant has different symptoms than the original strain
  2. Certain countries also require vaccines when going there. I think Brazil/Peru if going to the amazon require the yellow fever vaccine and a few others.
  3. We don't have covid, but a different virus. We've both been really sick with head/chest issues. We both had a fever for 3 days of around 100. Lots of mucus, headaches, fatigue, cough, etc...My buddy at work has it too. He called off 4 days, I called off 2. I never call off. I tested negative twice, and he did twice as well. So we have covid and another bad illness going around right now. I'm staying home lol. Tomorrow will be day 13 with symptoms, after what happened in January to me, the reaction to the medication I was taken, and now this...I've literally been sick all of 2021. I didn't get sick once in 2020.
  4. Percentage of people in each age group that have received at least one dose Age Group 2021-04-03 75+ yrs 75.4% 65-74 yrs 75.2% 50-64 yrs 44.3% 40-49 yrs 31.9% 30-39 yrs 26.4% 18-29 yrs 17.7%
  5. Deaths, ICU, and Hospitalizations down today. I think deaths are beginning of a great trend, now that 75%+ of 65+ are vaccinated we should see deaths fall rapidly. We are seeing a plateau of cases, we won't see a 4th wave.
  6. I believe the UK variant is the primary strain around here right now. There is also another bug going around that me and my wife got. Today is day 12 with symptoms.
  7. We are definitely fortunate. Sometimes we take for granted how far we've come in the medical industry. Without immunotherapy my mom likely dies last year from cancer. Chemo and radiation didn't work. Excess mortality rose 23% in the USA last year. Even if everything wasn't diagnosed perfectly, Covid is likely the sole reason for this. https://scitechdaily.com/us-deaths-normally-change-less-than-2-each-year-in-2020-with-covid-they-rose-a-staggering-22-9/
  8. Over 100 million Americans have now received at least one dose of the coronavirus vaccine as of Friday, marking 39% of the adult population, according to CDC data.
  9. Excess deaths are a good way to measure the change in average deaths from year to year. It disputes everything you posted with facts. Excess death data shows that the real number of covid related deaths globally are far higher then documented covid deaths. It's not really disputable at all. A breakdown of all the data globally. https://ourworldindata.org/excess-mortality-covid See above.
  10. https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/covid-19-some-canucks-cases-connected-with-brazilian-p-1-variant That variant has been growing in number in B.C. over the past month and was recently identified as a major driver of an outbreak that originated in Whistler. Some research has shown the P.1 variant is as much as 2.5 times more transmissible than earlier strains of the coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
  11. This is why everyone needs to get vaccinated, these variants are no joke. The brazilian one impacts younger people much more than the originally strain did. ttps://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/covid-19-some-canucks-cases-connected-with-brazilian-p-1-variant That variant has been growing in number in B.C. over the past month and was recently identified as a major driver of an outbreak that originated in Whistler. 12. I was hearing that Pfizer has enough data to apply for full FDA approval soon?
  13. Vancouver Canucks are getting messed up by the Brazilian variant.
  14. In regards to the super athletes on these forums go look at what is happening with the Vancouver Canucks right now. Go get your vaccine.
  15. I'm similar to your thinking, but its still by far the worst pandemic in a century. Without modern medical advancements it is likely is similar to the Spanish flu. When all is said and done a few years from now I'm thinking total excess deaths are well above 5 million
  16. He lives in Canada. He was saying how they are struggling because they don't make their own vaccines.
  17. I went to Costa Rica a few years ago and loved it. That country is run 100% on renewable energy. Did you go to the rainforest? Arenal Volcano?
  18. hospitalizations sightly up deaths continue to fall quickly.
  19. Cases don't really matter though, only hospitalizations and ICU.
  20. I am not sure, I would think at least a few months as vaccinations are way behind in Canada vs USA. If I had to guess sometime in June/July
  21. I don't expect international travel to commence until at least 2022, and most likely summer of 2022. Just going through some travel forums, quite a few places in Europe just went back into lockdown, Auckland NZL did too. I don't expect travel into NZL until 2023. The canadian border isn't even open yet, and don't expect it to be for at least a few months. as Ontario just went into another month long lockdown. The vaccine rollout in America is the best in the world right now. We may not have universal healthcare, but man if we all work together we can get things done quick.
  22. What good is there to be anything but optimistic. Our time on this planet is so short. I was just thinking my first post on here was from the Dec 1-3 2010 Lake effect storm. Cannot believe that was 11 years ago already...Time flies, Get out and live! I had a 16 day trip planned to New Zealand the first week of April of last year, but covid hit literally a week before I wish I got stuck there for the last year, would have been awesome lol. I planned that trip for months! I also had Norway planned for September of last year and had to cancel that as well. One day I'm going to sell everything, turn a van into my house and travel the world.
  23. The big trip this year is sometime in summer, going to Alaska. Haven't booked the flights yet, was hoping to get closer to see how the covid situation was. But looks to me that everything will be normal up there this summer. It's been #1 on my wifes list for awhile, really excited. My top 5 1.) New Zealand 2.) Norway 3.) Bali 4.) Switzerland 5.) Japan
