You just need to experience a real winter in Syracuse. They usually get pounded. I think it was 2010-2011 they had a really good winter. They got 40-60" in this storm https://www.weather.gov/buf/lesEventArchive?season=2010-2011&event=C A couple days later got 20" from this one. https://www.weather.gov/buf/lesEventArchive?season=2010-2011&event=D 2010-2011 is a top analog for this upcoming year.

I didn't know you hated the warmth that much, where you thinking? Hopefully still in upstate. You could always build a house on the Adirondack mountainside. That way you can guarantee cold all year long.

Lots of rain this morning as well. This is the first year where I never had to refill my pool all season long. Usually I fill it every 2 weeks the previous 2 summers.

EPS and GEFS have another warmup at end of October after a brief cooldown. Not nearly as impressive as the last warm spell though.

KBUF is at +12.2 for the month. Lake Erie as of yesterday was 67 degrees, highest before for the date was 64. So we are +3 above the previous all time record. The warmth this month is just insane. This likely finishes as the warmest October of all time by a fair margin.

Central Chautauqua County in western New York... * Until 630 PM EDT. * At 604 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located near Mayville, or 12 miles southwest of Fredonia, moving northeast at 25 mph.

I was at the waterfront got a funnel and wall cloud no touchdown it was too far out over the water.
