Has Steve D voiced any thoughts yet...haven't read anything yet from NJNYPA

There is some very good discussion in the MA forum March winter/snow threats pt2. See Bob Chill's posts, good reading and interesting to see if it plays out.

LC says philly jackpot. Ignore nam too far south with impulses.
From what I read "Chester PA to Jackson NJ" is his jackpot zone. He didn't give any totals.

Nice video about the February 17th-18th system. The video includes detailed info about the QBO and MJO for those that may not fully understand it's effect on winter weather.

I think he's referring to EPAWA. Quite a few of their forecasters are not degreed meteorologists.
Okay, Steve D does moonlight for them occasionally, maybe this is how He was included
-
everyone made some sort of statement about the rough forecasting of this storm.....abc6, nbc10, cbs3, NWS, DT, etc
if you don't like them then that is fine......i don't know how good or bad they are because i am not tracking their results which you should do if you are going to call them out like that......i do know that they are still a bunch of mets (not just steve d) that are putting in time and effort to try and put a forecast out for us and just like many other sources i appreciate them for that
Steve D isn't a Met?
-
Well, where they *thought* they went wrong, anyway... (I didn't read it myself as I avoid them like the plague, but I'm told by other meteorologists who did read it, that the explanation was not really correct... but again, that's heresay)
Nice choice of words....Lol. I almost added to my post how they had to come clean in fear of you know who.

200K + followers - I think they may be a bit above plant life. Personal opinion.
The amount of followers shouldn't be a barometer of their skill level at forecasting. However, I did appreciate their admission of the blown forecast and the quick follow up detailing where they / it (forecast) went wrong.
-
on the food chain EPAWA & Steve D. would be below plant life, there's no possible way one could claim these two provide any kind of value
That's kinda harsh no? EPAWA did a nice write up outlining what was to happen and what did explaining their mistakes.

Anyone can be a meterologist these days.
No real science in the profession.
Really don't think we need people these days in the business. A few people to run a computer program and send out the forecast. Computer voices or a cartoon animated person on your tv screen
I bet if you ran the average all the top rated weather models, your forecast would have been decent for this storm 12-24 hours out.
Only reason this storm busted, was human emotion got involved. DT is the classic example.
This is a really good post. I see potential in the cartoon - computerized voice character, seriously. There's gold in them thar hills.

Brave and aggressive call. I wont lol at someone that knows more about weather than me, but yeah going out on a limb.

JB on his video this morning said the the 15 days thru the first week of February....he believes will be "epic" for weather weenies. He says between the snow, rumours of snow (no doubt he will not fuel any of those!) and severe cold which he is certain is coming will make this a very memorable time for those who love winter weather. Coldest period will be days 10 to 15.
Did He ever give location? Not that I buy into jb, just curious about his cya approach.
