  1. Feb 4th - I've got my first of the spring bulbs popping up already. Our garden out front gets full sun this time of year, and with the lack of snow cover and milder temps, well, let it begin, albeit way too early.
  2. We got about 1.15". News 12 showed a segment claiming our area got 3.9" of rainfall per radar estimates, which was wildly inaccurate. On top of a 1" snowfall forecast which we didn't see a flake of either.
  3. Anyone been up top of High Point mountain today? There's got to be some noticeable snow/ice accumulations. I don't think it made it above freezing.
  4. The entire color spectrum is represented in the current radar. Temp here is 35.6, with a cold, moderate rain. Elevation 800'
  5. I did a nice hike this afternoon in a not too windy spot, and with a hat, gloves, and warm jacket, was actually quite pleasant out. It's been nice to have snow cover, but not too much so that you can't go out and play (unless you ski or own a snowmobile). Too bad it will be history by the end of the week.
  6. We made it to 1.5" in Sparta. Been pleasantly surprised with a little burst this evening - even though there isn't much on radar. I was just out, roads are slick in spots, caution is warranted. In fact, it's still snowing some, and I can see both the moon and Venus breaking through.
  7. I'm at work out in Hampton. I'd say maybe 1/2 inch here. I'll be back home later, but I'm guessing not much difference.
  8. This thing is sucking wind up here. It almost seems like the sun is trying to break through at times. At least what little we have is sticking on all untreated surfaces because of the cold temps out here.
  9. Light snow here on campus. New dusting on everything, spotty on sidewalks and pavement. Wonder if the super is thinking early dismissal or just keeping us here. My guess is we stay. Some kids are pissed they didn't get the day off again, but that's life.
  10. No call made yet on our campus here in Sussex County. Which I think is a good thing given that we may not get much at all. We'll see.
  11. Most of us in the education world are wondering about schools tomorrow. Tough call. Sometimes these small events can be as bad for driving as the big boys.
  12. Great radiational cooling last night. I got down to 4 up here. Most of Sussex County was down into the single digits.
  13. 23F and back to snow in sparta. I'm right on the snow/sleet line as per the radar, and that seems to be accurate based on real time conditions here.
  14. LIght to moderate snow here. I'm right on the edge of the heavier precip line. Up to 2.25" in the last two hours. Maybe I'll get close to the low side of 3-6" before all is said and done. Temp 23F.
  15. 1.7" here as of 8 am. Still snowing lightly. Schools are closed. Probably the right call in today's society, roads are sloppy. It's an underperformer as per forecast but still looks nice. I'll probably do a short hike later.
  16. Extremely fine flakes falling now. You can't see them in the light, but I can feel them on my face. Dewpoint up to 13 from about 3 earlier.
  17. My only point is that, at some point, the dry air is relevant. The models have probably improved over the years in it's consideration, but in the past, in my non-expert experience, they used to suck at it, and 6 inch forecasts evaporated into little more than a heavy dusting for some of us.
