  1. Doesn't make you or him right. I'M not hurling insults - YOU and I are having the conversation, not Pres Trump.
  2. "The Republicans own this mess and always will. " Really? Initial grant was approved under the Obama administration in 2014 for $3.7M funding research of bat coronavirus and some of that went to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. What's True A portion of $3.7 million in grants awarded between 2014 and 2019 by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to EcoHealth Alliance, a global environmental health nonprofit organization, helped fund research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China. What's False However, not all of that $3.7 million went to the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and not all of the funding took place under the Obama administration. Approximately $700,000 of the $3.7 million total was approved under Donald Trump. So instead of trying to place blame on a single person or party, let's understand the responsibility falls on many from both sides.
  3. Insults don't make for productive conversation. Facts and references do.
  4. Lol, could say that for any stimulus check given out in the past - here's one from the Socialist Pres Bush and Socialist Pres Obama: 2008 Stimulus Checks Stimulus checks were mailed out as follows: Individual taxpayers received up to $600.9 Married couples were eligible for up to $1,200. Households with children received $300 per dependent child. 2009 Stimulus Checks In 2009, the Economic Stimulus Act sent out $14.2 billion in stimulus checks.6 7 The one-time payment went to recipients of Social Security, Supplemental Security Income, veterans, and railroad retirees.
  5. Fake news. Also, handing out a stimulus check is much different than universal income - a socialist policy.
  6. Fake news much? No reference to the "millions of additional dollars" it cost. Strange. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said on Sunday that it was his idea to put President Trump's name on the stimulus checks being sent to Americans during the coronavirus pandemic. “We did put the president's name on the check,” he said during an appearance on CNN’s “State of The Union,” adding: “That was my idea. He is the president and I think it's a terrific symbol to the American public.”
  7. Can't stand when we go from winter to summer. Let's have at least a month of warm 70s and cool 50s @ night please!
  8. This is not feasible or mentally healthy for the public. Re-opening in the warmer months will be safer as more people spend time outdoors. There has to be a re-opening in phases, then containing hot spots.
  9. Paycheck growth was a strange quirk in the jobs report: More high-income earners stayed in their jobs than low-income workers, skewing the wage data higher. How much $ are those low-income workers making on unemployment now, compared to their working salaries?
  10. The POTUS was butchered over saying something similar. I for one am hoping to see this to be true - plus the added vitamin D from sunlight helps the immune system. Get outside people!
  11. The US addiction to cheap stuff is definitely a real issue. Agree China has challenges in the future, but I'd like to hear what you think about their investments and ownership in US 'interests'. What data are you looking at that shows US leading in science and innovation in 2016 and not now? Regarding universal healthcare, environment, renewables, etc... I'm all for that in a balanced, longer-term, affordable roll-out. Both sides push to the extremes and very few are willing to meet in the middle.
  12. The automation/tech piece is really interesting, I'm sure China has a 'plan' for that, unless they slow-play it on purpose. Curious. I agree with the low-end manufacturing jobs, but they will eventually try to get the higher-end stuff. Also, I'm concerned about how much they own our businesses, shares, bonds, treasury notes, etc. Many of us here probably have China owning 30-40% of our 401k savings. And let's not forget, China is essentially a modern-day Nazi-Germany in many ways - there's a reason why 50+% of adults in China smoke. Is this the government we want succeeding in the future?
  13. Just remember how we got into this problem with China in the first place - nothing to do with Pres Trump. We wouldn't need a POTUS to stand up to China otherwise. You may disagree with how it's done, but it needs to be done before China literally owns the US. I hope to see more standing up to China over the next 4 years.
  14. Haha, good to see more snow hounds on the site...bring it on, but give me sunny and 70 in-between.
  15. Not sure how I feel about that. Sounds like A LOT of debt and paired with rent/mortgage payment cancellations...hmm.
  16. IT's not you, it's the way of the media now. Twisting the titles to make it sound as bad as possible.
  17. I'm assuming this is because of the increased testing and validation? It's not like 8 times more people are suddenly being infected...or is it ONLY due to reopening? ---> 3000 deaths/day & forecast about 200,000 new cases each day by the end of the month, up from about 25,000 cases now.
  18. Great news for Italy. Hoping the have some good testing to track potential hot spots.
  19. Another study from NY added to the Chinese one regarding blood type and COVID infection. New info they added below regarding Rh type. If COVID is really going after red blood cells and their ability to carry oxygen, then this make a lot of sense as Rh+ has antigen proteins on red blood cells which create antibodies that could possibly be slowing COVID from attaching and/or infecting. Interested in learning more about this... https://www.pharmacytimes.com/news/study-suggests-blood-type-a-associated-with-higher-risk-of-covid-19 As of April 11, Michael Zietz and Nicholas P. Tatonetti further investigated the assocation between ABO+Rh blood type and SARS-CoV-2 by using observational data on 1559 individuals tested for SARS-CoV-2 with known blood type in the New York Presbyterian (NYP) hospital system.2 A higher proportion of blood group A and a lower proportion of blood group O among COV+ patients compared to COV-, though in both cases, the result is significant only in Rh positive blood types.
  20. What's the timing? We're flying out of HHH Thu early AM. Will the front be through by then? I think the Euro is the slowest.
  21. Hopefully this includes reversing the ban against home-test kits in NY...
  22. Another prelim study suggesting a much higher infection population resulting in a much lower mortality rate: New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo revealed Thursday that preliminary results from a coronavirus antibody study show the statewide infection rate is 13.9 percent, which would mean around 2.7 million residents could have carried the disease.
  23. Agreed. COVID-19 seems more and more likely to have been around a lot longer than we think. We all had a 'mysterious' illness as well in mid-Feb. Son had a high fever for 2-3 days, no other symptoms, I had a slight cough, sore throat, sinus. Daughter and other son the same. Wife had it the worst, but recovered in about a week. We had just gone through a round of RSV the month beforehand as well, so it likely wasn't that.
  24. We received ours from American - even half-used. They wouldn't refund unless the return flight was cancelled, which it was.
