Thinking there are gravity waves pulsing from E to W...can see one here (focus on radar ground zero):

And here (focus over LO and see precip blossom):

It’s pretty interesting how you can see banding features moving from southeast to northwest on the radar loop. There’s one in particular going through Oneida county near Utica right now.

Check out my post above...the one you're referring to is some banding...I think there are gravity waves in there as well. You can see it pushing into Eastern LO and enhancing the precip.

Only snow event I was ever too scared to go out into was the October 2011 blizzard in CT. Trees were snapping left and right under the weight of the snow and wind. That was a legitimate natural disaster for the state.

Similar to our '91 ice storm... Sounded like shotgun fire every minute for hours. No wind.

There was actually a legit band of East to West lake snow hitting the West end of the lake earlier today.  i wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it for myself.  Very interesting as delta T's shouldnt have allowed it.  I should have grabbed a screen shot.

I mentioned it in an earlier post...created a gif from the COD site. Definitely a legit band.
