  1. I hit my local GolfQuest range several times a week. It has a pretty crappy chip/putt/bunker practice facility but I still spend 30min after my range session
  2. You don’t have one close to you anymore?
  3. Scoring is up today, unexpectedly, so cut line will probably be at Even. Weekend scoring should come down a bit though.
  4. Good first round. Cut line looking +1 atm. Some surprises with short players like Kaymer and Zach Johnson but if you hit fairways and greens....you can keep pace.
  5. Expecting a great PGA. Course is setting up to be a tough but fair test. Hit fairways and greens...and you’ll be fine. Easier said then done when the fairways are pinched in with heavy rough. Conditions in the San Fran marine air won’t help either. Long accurate drivers and good long iron players should do well. I’m pumped for the 4 days.
  6. Brooks went all out on 18 (after birdieing 17 to cut it to 1), had to make birdie to force playoff, while JT was on the 18th green...and didnt have enough Bryson in him to cut the corner and get it over the pond. 18 was playing as the toughest or 2nd toughest hole so without a bomb drive, hard to make 3 there. JT did approach it way over the green on 18 but made a nasty pitch within 2ft.
  7. For the PGA followers...The WGC St Jude was very entertaining and this weekend’s PGA Championship sets up to be a great test. Thick rough and tight fast fairways. Greens shouldn’t be too nasty so accurate OTT (not me) and good long iron players should rise to the top.
  8. There is one variable that is easy to forecast though...fading Judah’s NAO calls. If you bet the house on it every winter for the last 10 years, you’d have 9 houses.
  9. All guesses. Some more scientific than others. Not diminishing the work some do. People like Ray abandon their families for a month to print their forecast. I respect the process.
  10. Nice dude. Great to hear. The game is fun when we turn the corner and start striking it more consistently. Of course at our level, we will have blown ups and frustrating holes or rounds...but when we find something that helps us improve, it’s refreshing.
  11. This has been a game changer for me lately. For anyone who hangs their weight too much on their backside and struggles to get forward early...this is a must watch. This video is more than just irons too...it’s a very simple way to think about your golf swing. Love the way how this guy teaches too.
  12. I’m leaning subpar winter myself. Until something positive happens in 2020...bet on persistence, of dogshit.
  13. I bought stiff Titliest woods a few years back but couldn’t hit them so I threw them aside and basically forgot about them. After your advice yesterday, I figure’d I give them a try for the rest of the season, starting today, before getting fitted and felt the difference right away. It’s not magic but it certainly helps. Thanks.
  14. 40/44 at Pound Ridge. Used a different set of woods (stiff shaft) which made a big difference. Had a blow up +4 on 15 with two penalties but other than that...striped it pretty well. Solid improvement off the tee, some leaked right so have to work on bowing the left wrist some more. I beat my bosses too. Happy with my round especially on a very tough course.
  15. You’re right. The more I talk to folks, that’s the next step I should take.
  16. It’s a friendly convo here, no worries. But I don’t carry a driver when I’m playing somewhat competitively (with others) but if I’m playing by myself, sure. I’ll smack a couple. The issue lately isn’t even my driver though...it’s my fairway woods that I generally/used to hit them solid. So, my off the tee game has put me in bad spots. My strong game is approach, around the green, and putting. So, tomorrow where it’s pretty competitive playing in a 4some...I can’t just smack a couple off the tee for practice. I may just 4i/5i it 200yds and have it in play for my strong my part of my game to make a bigger impact. I know, it’s not the manly thing to do but I’d rather keep it short and move straight ahead then spray it around the course hitting from other fairways lol.
  17. Yea. It’s part confidence and part mechanical. I honestly haven’t used it for years on the course. Only on the range. I can get a hold of it there sometimes...like 1 out of 5. So it doesn’t give me to confidence to bust it out competitively. 20% chance of a good strike doesn’t exactly get me excited to use it. Maybe I just haven’t found the right driver that feels good. I’ve only had two. I may finally invest in getting fitted this winter...go from 20% to 30% lol.
  18. That’s the first blame. Then the ball. Maybe the course. Finally, I’ll blame myself...but only after all external options have been exhausted first.
  19. Because I like to keep the ball in play and not have to take a penalty stroke. I prefer to score well then be a wannabe big shot.
  20. Old/bad habits are hard to overcome. I’m going through the same thing. Keep at it.
  21. Don’t use it often but I should probably give it a go. That or the 4i. I know I’ll be that guy in the group but better to be 200yd center (relatively) then try be 250/260 but sprayed into the woods and ponds...right?
  22. I never use the big dog anyway. It always stays in the trunk of my car. It’s my 5w and 3w that I’m struggling with. I’ve made some changes to my swing which has improved my iron play but messed with my fairway woods for some reason. The swing shouldn’t be all that different so maybe it’s my shitty old woods which have a flex shaft where they can’t meet my new crushing swing speed demand ha. Or maybe I just suck right now off the tee. Dunno.
  23. Playing Pound Ridge NY on Sunday with some high level folks from my company. It’s a super hard course and my tee game has been pretty bad. Good times.
  24. Nice. We knew you wouldn’t just give up like that.
