  1. I'm not upset about this one not being there today. I don't think my family knows how to run the generator Friday evening looks pretty good for some good thunderstorms.
  2. Just poking some fun. I know it's disappointing to miss out on good CG. Just look at my screen name . July has been so much better than May/June. After living in several locations I have found that some years you win and others you're just not ground zero. There are still 2-3 months of potential ahead. August and September have some of my favorite Thunderstorm event memories.
  3. I am excited MBY is getting decent rains while I am out of town. Hopefully my neighbor will cut the lawn before I get home I know the rest of my family won't
  4. Nearly every system has found a way to put red+ blobs on radar right on Grand Rapids area As I type this Grand Rapids is getting hammered again. I am not sure you will be happy unless your house has been leveled by a EF5.
  5. Well. Looks like I missed some of the same as always back home.
  6. Porcupine Mtns Edit: At least I can get a report from the family about the storm.
  7. Got 80s in the Porcupine Mtns today
  8. Nooooo. Smoke is coming back. I see it in the forecast for Houghton MI tomorrow afternoon
  9. I have found certain set ups are needed due to the 300'+ elevation changes. Today's storm movement was much better for MBY. Once the line got through Lansing I was very confident it was going hold for MBY based on the trajectory.
  10. I believe/hope the ring of fire will be active to help keep the heat in check some.
  11. Best thunderstorm IMBY since the end of March Got a bit of everything but a nader (which I can do without). Hail size was pea (perfect size). Winds gust 30s/40s. Heavy Rain (visibility 1/2 mile) with total 3/4" (not flooding rains but I'll take it ). Lightning & Thunder. Excited considering most models missed MBY.
  12. It is summery here but not thick like northern Ohio. mid60 dews here while 70s in northern Ohio. Regardless the line is holding together and looks like it will get stronger.
  13. My guess would be Lenawee and Monroe / northern OH day. If things fire early then add Wayne / Washtenaw up to the thumb into it. I am likely to far west (based on majority of the models) and get to see some great cloud formations.
  14. Most models have it occurring to my south. If there is 2" hail I won't mind a miss!
  15. Models are all over the place for LM tomorrow with this system. Hopefully we get some good storms down this way.
  16. It has been an interesting growing season here but the past couple weeks with better rains have really helped. Hopefully yours will do well!
  17. Going to be great camping weather for me if that continues
  18. Glad most of it has blown out of here since morning.
  19. Just did a quick turn around trip from southern MI to southern MN and back. Saw some great storms (not the reason I did the trip but definitely a bonus). Really enjoyed the La Cross WI and Dakota MN area. Very beautiful area. I could see myself move there (can't right now but would definitely consider it). Worst for me the Chicago area. Traffic, accidents, congestion and too many buildings for me. So glad there are people who like it that way!! Next time I am going to pony up and pay for the ferry across Lake MI. I will plan to avoid driving near Chicago again!!! Keep in mind I don't go to Detroit either. Closest I get is Novi for work.
  20. Yeah these storms are moving fast. That's a good gust. Hopefully things get wets for points north as summer progresses
  21. Just drove all the way to Waseca MN today. Was driving around with those storms along the 14 between Rochester and Waseca. Way cool to see the full storm cell structure. Too many trees in MI. I was loving it today driving with these storms too play with I will say Rochester MN was the driest area on my drive between MI to MN. Couple parts in southern WI were a bit dry too. Southern MI, Northern IN and northern IL are very green now
  22. I drove right next to that lower cell today as it was developing. It was very cool!!
  23. Glad to see SW MI did well. As you can see so did the northern 1/2 of DTX. Unfortunately I was on the southern edge and the greater totals just to my north. It happens. Just a bit annoying as yesterday morning my forecast was 2-3" and even the evening update had 1-2" totals. Some models agreed with this forecast but others had it just to my north. I think NWS did great but unfortunately for me the further north models were correct.
  24. Got woken up to Warning and sirens. The cell was moving perfectly to MBY. Moved my cars away from trees. Sirens turn off. Looked at radar. Per NWS: Warning canceled as storm lost severe capabilities. Next the lightning stopped 3 miles from MBY. Winds maybe gusted to 5-10 MPH. Howell airport => 0.7" of rain. Flint airport => 2.5" of rain. Models that had this system north => correct. Others NG.
