This winter was forecasted to be a very good winter for our area. Many forecasts had a cold and snowy winter with 30-40 inches of snow.
No one saw the Pacific and the MJO messing up this winter.
The NAO was no help at all.
This is going to be one of the worst winters ever here. 2001-2002 still holds the crown.
The Pac is just horrendous. The models were showing it getting better with a huge epo ridge. Now the models are backing off that idea and it's back to cutter city.
Don't worry , we will get out -NAO during spring .
Nothing exciting on the models at all. Looks like the good pattern that people thought that was coming is going to fail.
Hopefully things change but this winter has been awful with tons of busts.
Bring on baseball. First game is today =)

What warmth ?
Seriously , do you look at the models ? The pattern looks good as we head into March with the pna ridge and the favorable mjo.
Keep thinking winter is over. Head over to the SNE thread and see what they think.
The window is during the 1st week of March. Spring should be here by the middle of the month.
NYC will end up below average in the snowfall department unless a March 2001 redux( favors our area now ) happens which is slim.
Looking at these tellies ?

I was told by many meteorologists not to take these charts seriously.
I'm at 34 now
It's messy outside. Many people thought the rain was going to wash the snow away but the rain has been very light.
No one really shoveled . It's terrible.
