  1. Up here in the mountains of Tioga County the high for the day was 54. We’re gonna build one hell of a raging fire tonight. Cheers everyone. I would post a couple pics but I keep getting that stupid message about the file being too large, even if I try the screenshot trick. Very aggravating.
  2. You know I will! Now, about that Franklin fella.... Tell me about it. I made an impromptu trip to my buddy's cabin up here at 1,800' near the Tioga/Potter line (paging @pasnownut), and I have never seen so many deer carcasses littering the roads. Was telling the boys about it when I arrived. They are going hunting today and my job is to get a nice fire going and keep the whiskey warm. Heading back home tomorrow. Feels good to be up in the mountain air. Complete silence as well. Refreshing.
  3. High of 71 here. Not sure how that compares, haven’t had time to check yet.
  4. Hmmmm i saw all the official readings and knew I was a good bit higher but a lot of the WU stations immediately around my area were similar, so perhaps my region was just warmer yesterday. Curious what @Itstrainingtime reading was. Today will help tell more of the story, me thinks.
  5. A low of 42 here and a high yesterday of…..68. Seems better and more importantly didn’t experience any of the wild spikes and fluctuations. Perhaps still a wee bit on the warm side. What were everyone else’s highs yesterday? Curious to see what today brings with a day of full sun.
  6. Nooners and 50 here. So far so good but the real test will be when we get full sun. Quite overcast here today.
  7. Low of 34. Big news over here, in that this is the first full day I will be measuring temps without my wife’s black shade netting hanging over the pergola. As some of you who have been following this saga may know, I predicted that this black tarp thingy was contaminating my measurements by adding waste heat to the area right near my weather station, leading to high temps that were consistently 3-5+ degrees higher than everyone around me. I am hoping those days are over and I can actually report some accurate daytime highs. If not, I have a bigger problem ha. Today is the day. We shall see.
  8. Busted low here with a 28. Some lower elevation spots in the 24-26 range. Impressive. A nice weekend ahead though. Good fire pit weather for those of you who partake.
  9. I don't think you'll have too much to worry about haha. Pack really struggling to find themselves on offense. Not ready to throw the towel in just yet on Love but leaning towards Green Bay being in the quarterback sweepstakes ugh.
  10. Looks like quite a few reports of 4-5" out in the NW part of the state. Very nice. So, MDT ended the month at 59.0 (T-12th all time), a good bit lower than the 59.7 I predicted, due to it staying much cooler than the surrounding locales during the heat at the end of last week (not something we can say often ha). They also ended up with only 1.69" of rain, whereas I had 2.9" at my house. We should be in for a near-double digit negative departure for the first few days this month and then things moderate after that. Carry on.
  11. Low of 32 here with some light frost through the rurals. Tonight should be my first hard freeze. Congrats to those who saw their first white!
  12. Only about 75ish kids here, a far cry from our previous neighborhood where we got hundreds. Was kind of a nice low key night though, and one of the neighbors hosted a party where the adults had their own fun so all in all a great night!
  13. Actually got down to 35 here this morning, happened well after I left the house. To all those with youngins, happy Trick or Treating!
  14. 39 when I left the house and .02” of additional rain yesterday. Brisk trick or treat night on tap. Time to board the choo choo.
  15. I have not moved off of 53, ‘tis my high and low since midnight, to go along with .18” of total precip. Bring on the cold.
  16. Seems damn near a given at this point, I would think. I’m still stuck at 55.
  17. Sitting at 69 here which is my high for the day, and yes I can report an accurate daytime temp because I've been under cloud cover all day haha. Had some stuff on the radar overhead but no actual drops fell. About to sneak in what may be my last mow of the year.
  18. I've been keeping an eye on this as well. Subtle differences making for huge shifts in the forecast. As always, will be interesting to see who wins the model wars.
  19. Get off my train. But seriously, where you heading? And yes, there is nothing they love more than having one car be an ice box and the next a sauna.
  20. You are one of the true, the proud, the diehards. College football is my one sport where I'm probably closest to remaining a diehard, although even they have done their best to turn me off in recent years with the loss of regional rivalries and insane conference realignment. Allow me to summarize my sports fandom levels, not that anyone asked ha.... NHL - Don't follow and have never had a team, but do enjoy a good playoff hockey game. NBA - Used to be a fan but not anymore, for too many reasons to list here. Will still occasionally tune in to a playoff game. MLB - Used to be a diehard but now a casual, as discussed above. NFL - Have always been a solid fan, while occasionally bickering about rules changes ha. NCAA football - Diehard. Can't get enough of it, while noting the caveat outlined above. NCAA basketball - What players are playing for which teams again? Just get to March already. NCAA olympic sports - Love me some college wrestling and volleyball, as well as a couple other small-time sports. Some of the purest competition you can get.
