  1. Contrast that with the fact that we’ve only hit 97 in one of the past 25 years. Part of me thinks we’ve just been lucky (or unlucky if you want heat).
  2. So what’s the deal with the 119 in Pendleton, OR in 1898? Is there some debate as to its legitimacy? Some sources mention it, but many sources use the 117 as the all time record.
  3. From a variability perspective, I really don’t see how we would break our all time heat record by 9 degrees in one go. But now the thought that we could see 105 or 106 one day doesn’t seem too far fetched.
  4. That’s 9 degrees warmer than any temperature they recorded prior to this heat wave. A new all time record high for Canada (118) was set, and the official records of 118 for Washington state and 117 for Oregon (apparently disputed, I’ve seen 119 from some sources) were tied yesterday.
  5. Running a couple degrees ahead of yesterday so far.
  6. I’ll drink to that (the contenders part, not the 85 degrees at 10am part). Gotta keep the people saying “Tomlin has never had a losing season.” Side note, I don’t believe I’ve ever heard anyone say “Ben has never had a losing season.”
  7. I’ll pass on that, but maybe I’ll jump on the bandwagon depending on how bad my team sucks this year. That would require your Cowboys to be good enough to have a bandwagon this year.
  8. My mother was telling me about how she’s having one done sometime this week so it’s been on my mind recently. I’ll have to ask her if she’s going to Red Robin after.
  9. I’m still 8 years away from being able to relate to this, but it’s terrifying that it’s that close.
  10. NWS is suggesting we get to just 90 today, but they also have a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. But I wouldn’t say 94 or 95 out here is impossible if we don’t get the clouds or convection.
  11. But we got down to a nice comfortable low of 72 this morning.
  12. We did get to 92 yesterday so the HRRR was good.
  13. https://xmacis.rcc-acis.org is what I use. Makes finding this data much easier.
  14. Here’s the data. Based on current forecasts, MDT would finish the month with an average of 75.5.
  15. Astoria, OR topped out at 101. Is that considered “right at the coast”?
  16. It’s not over yet. Yesterday they got to 104 and they’re 5 degrees ahead of where they were 24 hours ago.
  17. The University of Oregon could be in big trouble if that button they made 14 years ago goes viral. Well maybe they didn’t make it, maybe it was Bi-Mart (whatever the heck that is) or the Oregon Community Credit Union.
  18. This is the only thread on AmericanWx where the term “Palouse” has ever been used, but our resident Palouse expert @Mount Joy Snowman used the syntax “on the Palouse”, so we’ll go with that.
  19. But they manufacture meth on the Palouse and not in it. https://www.google.com/amp/s/klewtv.com/amp/news/local/methamphetamines-on-the-palouse
  20. Or is it on the Palouse rather than in the Palouse?
  21. That location actually hits 32 on the EC the day after that.
  22. 12 days after this post, we’ve officially hit 90.
