  1. Yes! In Towson it hasn't gone above 32 since the snow, so besides the radiative melting we still have a soft fluffy snowpack that was definitely getting blown around today with the wind. Not going to take much at all here.
  2. And computers. No one has mentioned computers yet. 2020/2021 taught us that, while not sustainable long term for the well being of children, having them do remote learning for a few days is much more acceptable from a risk perspective than forcing them into potentially dangerous situations getting to school. That has nothing to do with the "we've grown soft as a society" narrative some like to push.
  3. This look like a big fish eating a little fish to anyone else or have I just not had a cocktail yet?
  4. We need all we can get, this sunshine is wreaking havoc on my base layer of snow!
  5. I took a walk around my neighborhood at sunset and all the roads and sidewalks in my area are slushy after a blinding sunny day. BCPS is opening 2 hours late and I agree with them. People are going to have a rough time getting out of their neighborhoods before the sun has a chance to do its thing.
  6. I've honestly researched flights to Aomori City, it's on the bucket list.
  7. Agreed. I literally used a broom to remove the snow from my sidewalk this morning. Haven't done that in years.
  8. Not for me just north of Baltimore. It was all snow all the time. Can't see where these numbers are coming from in my area.
  9. Final tally of 5.3 in my Towson backyard. Not quite what we were hoping for but look on the bright side, this stuff is here to stay! I take 5 inches that lasts weeks over 8 that melts in days in a heartbeat.
  10. Sheesh, seems to be snowing all around me but not over me. Still getting pity flakes in Towson.
  11. Looks nice but at least over me just north of Baltimore that is all virga. Did the lower atmosphere dry out that much during the dry slot?
  12. Is this going to curve north? By my untrained eye it looks like it's making a beeline ESE toward Richmond.
  13. Thanks was asking for a friend who would love another semi-sleep-in day. Can't roll out of bed for 8am zoom meetings at 7:45 when you have HS kiddos
  14. Anyone ready to give odds on area schools opening tomorrow?
  15. Just under 4" in my Towson backyard, but this should help the totals for us Baltimore area peeps.
  16. They called it, got the text about 20 minutes ago.
  17. Bonus question - does anyone remember if this one went north of the consensus 48 hours out? Don't these always go north?
  18. Looks like a bust in Towson, not that we were expecting much but not even a pity flake and the radar is dry behind us all the way to Frederick.
  19. Fun and games now and I'm a weenie too so not pointing fingers whatsoever, but this would be a disaster declaration scenario for West Virginia.
  20. All - you're thinking about next Monday all wrong. Think about it. When did Carter pass on and when did King Euro start sniffing out snow next Monday? Next, look at the years Carter was in office '77-'80 for snowfall analogs for DC. See what I mean? Don't worry DC peeps, there will be a beautiful blanket of snow when you wake up Monday morning that will last all week!
  21. For the past number of years my little hood has had a contract with a skid pro operator to navigate the tiny streets, that dude gets started early.
  22. And then waking up to the early morning sounds of a snow plow scraping the street. Nothing like it.
  23. Probably belongs in banter but didn't think about this. Carter is bringing the snow for his last visit to remind us of what DC was like in early January back in the 70s.
  24. They've actually been fun to watch this year, with the trick being to watch all the high draft picks bloom into stars rather than focusing on wins/losses. Also focus on the fact that those losses could land us the kid from Duke next year.
